Does this ever bring back memories from a long long time ago. My first Honda was a blue Benly, not sure what year or model model. I bought it around '66 or '67. All I can really remember about it was it was a 150cc, single carb, 4 speed, blue of course, looked just like the picture was and totally gutless, but I had a lot of fun with it.
The original seat cover fell apart and I found a scrap of red vinyl at an upholstery shop and a friend of a relative sewed up a beautiful seat cover, bright red with a white strap and piping.
Sold it to get something bigger, but can't remember what it was right now.

Anyone know what year and model my blue Honda was?

If it looked like Dans (Jonesy) it was the later one.
The early one had flat silencers and the down pipes/headers went further forward before sweeping back.
Also the early ones had a tach drive, worked off the right hand end of the camshaft.

Thanks Sam, I don't remember the shape of the silencers. There was no tach, I have no idea whether it had a tach drive. I know that it was at least 2 or 3 years old when I acquired it (which possibly could have been as late as '68. What model years were "early"or "late".

Anyway, lots of fond memories of misspent youth.

Mine's a '66. According to the model guides, it was the last year the Benly was offered.

1964 was the dividing point between "early" and "later" models.

Thanks, I doubt mine was earlier than '64 so it was likely a "later" model. Like I said I remember that it was 150cc and definitely blue. I wonder how many of those years they were made in blue.
I recall a friend had a similar one, 1 model year different, in red, don't recall which was older, his or mine. I do remember that his was 160cc.

Do you know what different engine configurations were available?

Well the CA160 came out after the CA95. So yours would have been older. The CA95 came in red, blue, black and white. Same goes for the CA160.

The early CA95's had a different looking tank panel, no spot to mount rear blinkers like later ones, metal shock covers, and like Sam said they had a tach drive and square mufflers.

Hey Kevin,

I remember seeing a picture of a larger CA (250 or 305, can't remember) that was modified to look similar to the Benly 125 Super Sport, but I can't remember where it was. Have you seen the one I'm talking about, I was gonna post it here if I could find it. Seems like it had a gas tank like the SS and a set of telescopic forks like a Super Hawk. I don't remember what else. If you have seen it and if you know where it is, could you post it? I'd appreciate it. It is a tough looking bike, in my opinion. Thanks. Bill

Or you could take the CA72 or77 front end, change it up to look like the CB92 and there ya go, A Benly 250 (or 304) Super Sport

Very neat and tidy, I'll bet a lot of hours went into building that.
It looks to be a mix of the two sports models CB92 and CB72.
Then the two tourers come into it, CA72 motor with single carb to fit inside the frame as the twin carbs would foul the frame.
Also the use of rectangular rear shocks, al-a CA95/CA72.
On the whole, it is a very nice looking special.

Unfortunately, we can't get these in the US either. I would like the 90S with the 50S seat on there.
I would also buy the 400SS that has been floating around, too.

what a great nostalgic post this is. I had both a CB92 and a CB72 back in the 60's.
I even managed to buy a used race seat and exhaust for the CB92 back then, but sadly without baffles the exhaust was too loud and attracted too much attention from the law. About 8 years ago I saw the person I sold the CB92 to, he told me he had sold it on only months before.

Never had a CB92 but I did have a CB72 and I really liked that bike. Wish I still had it.
I always find it interesting to see and hear about the old bikes. Brings back a lot of memories.

Danny, the same factory race kit was also made for the 150, but as only a few hundred CB95s were made, I dont think you will ever find the race kit parts.
However, the race cam that was made for the CB92 (125) ended up as being the same cam that was fitted to the roadsters.
I would think that the cam fitted to the early CA95 would be the same race cam (not 100% certain) that was made for the CB95s.
If anyone has a spare cam from the early model (with revcounter drive) or a later cam (without) I would like to get hold of both for evaluation.
I would be glad to pay all cost of shipping from and returning to the US if you don't want to sell.
If you do have and want to sell, I will buy and pay shipping.
Kevin (hahnda) PMed me asking what tuning parts might be available, I told him none as the early CA95 was the same motor as fitted to the CB95
Only by fitting the race kit that is not fully available will you get any performance increase, other than having performance parts custom made.
