Anybody using a Tailgunner?
« on: January 23, 2007, 12:42:32 PM »
Ok, so this kinda falls into the novelty idea more than anything else but, my stock 6000mi 78 cb750F has a bad muffler and I have been debating putting on a new style can. I saw these at the Motorcycle show here in NY and actually thought one of the small turbine exhausts (which ironically are not listed on the site right now....hmmm) would look cool in place of my muffler.

before the sticker shock gets to you, keep in mind that at the show he had a smaller diameter model (3" I think) that was not as much money (still expensive). He also had a stainless model which looked badass.

It looks loud (uses spuertrap style baffels inside the pipe before the spinning tubine or gattling gun), and that is my biggest concern.

questions:

1) if you have one - How loud is it?

2) you think I should I go tubine or gattling gun?

3) how funny/badass do you think it will look?

4) any other muffler suggestions?

Oh, don't get me wrong it is totally tacky, but as my father once said "if you are going to go - go for the Gusto"  (I still don't know what that means but it sounds cool).

I already have a performance oreinted 78 750F that has been lightened and sports a kerker and a cam. This is more for giggles than anything else (though you are right the price is up there). The bike is mostly black so I figured a stealth one would be a better choice than chrome.

most standard slipons are about the same price, that is why I considered it at all.

May as well go for a propane nozzle and a sparker to add shooting flames!  Then maybe the full gambit of body panels to make it a Bat Bike . :D
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Gee, I think you need to dump some raw fuel into that and use it as an afterburner. Then you have both form and function.  Go for the Gusto was from an old beer commercial from the 1960's.

I don't enjoy people laughing at me, so I would be too embarrassed to have that on my bike.

If I were to build a "la-bamba" ghetto cruiser bike, that would be a definate add on, along with the mud flaps the static strips and the plastic Jesus on the handle bars.   :P

i was looking at those awhile back , i think the spinning barrels will create unwanted back pressure.
if you get one id like to see pictures..

not every one is easily embarrassed, some of us refuse to fade into the backround,
but, yes there is a fine line between originality and gaudy

I would have to go with the jet engine style rather than the gat gun. I just like it better for my tastes... not for my budget, though... :)  I could see it being cool on a show bike.

One of you can get either one, then give you your address so I can steal it! ;D

Who says it needs to be mounted on the exhaust! Just mount it somewhere on the side so it looks like you are packin!  :D
