Ok, thanks for all the links.
I know RSbikepaint. I have received paint to compare.

And no they do not only use waterbased paint.

Unfortunately RS has not a very solid reputation.
A quick scroll through their paint data base learned that some paints they provide are not correct.
For instance a one based candy cannot be correct.

I have looked up the colour candy riviera blue special and that indeed seems to be a Honda candy colour.
A big Honda paint specialist in Germany sells it(RH) as well as Randy Marble .
Interesting colour which I like to paint one day.
Seems to belong on a sl70.. (?)

What I did find is that you could order a bike directly from Honda Japan in the 70's.
They would ship it to a dealer near you leaving the possibility to choose your own stear or colour.
That would mean it would not be in the books but was delivered to the coutry in Europe anyway...

This site: http://www.honda60-70s.net/Gamme/gamme.html#1972
is not a serious site. Many errors in colours and no idea about the name of the colours..

Good info in this thread ! Especially when an experienced bike painter writes about his experiences.

I hope that all info about exact CB750 colors by model, year and country can be found and published.

Here is a link from a French forum or I was also trying to determine the colors of imports of motorcycles in France in 1972.

This link allows to see the french catalogs.

thanks to Aurelia B20 for this archive work.

Interesting when you look at  the K3 renderings.
They appear to have early taillight, early style stripes.  And the headlite ears !  At first they look like 72, but.. but appear to have small reflector.. So  I suspect K0 style,  then chromed.

What is really weird is I found a rough blue one  that looked like K0 style with small reflector, but blue paint..

I am confused.

What colour should marron be?
Why is it called blue and red?
Which red? I assume candy ruby red.
But the k2 or k3 never came in candy antares red.
And boss maroon whas never even a colour for the 750 in Europe.
It makes no sense at all.

I think since the drawings are not really helping the colours should be
candy ruby red (the dark red), planet blue metallic (blue)
And candy flake orange (the light 'red').
But candy custom gold was introduced on the late k1 and continued with the k1.
Since the production in Europe went on with the k2 which was produced from 1972 till 1975
and during this production this colour was also available for the k2 there is no reason whatsoever to assume
it was only introduced in 1973. Especially since the colours in Europe (unlike in the USA) were not determened by year.
They were all k2s.

No the rear light in Europe remained the same since k1 I believe.
We never had these big rearlights the later k3, 4 or 5 had.
Even the K6 had the small rearlight in Europe.
Same for the lining on the tank. It changed in Europe to the k6 in 1976. Again skipping k3, k4, k5.

Ah, I figured it out.
Marron is candy garnet brown.
Bleu is planet blue
Rouge is candy ruby red.

It is very confusing because these French translate the colour but only partially.
So a honda cb 350 is rouge (light ruby red)
But a cb 750 is also rouge (candy ruby red)

Two completely different colours - but who cares.
