ok thanks.
the part that i find hard to understand is: if 20w40 is ok, what would be the disadvantage of a 20w50? because as i understand, both are made to support a certain temperature range, and both start at 20. so for the cold part of the range i assume they would be the same, only the one going up to 50 can take more heat at the high end.

but i admit i'm a laymen when it comes to the science of oils so please correct me if i'm wrong.

I really don't know. I'm of the believe: 'do without what you don't need' and 'less is more'. I have the idea however that 20-40 is basically a stronger oil than 20-50, but it's not more than an idea. I myself never had problems with a 15W-40 oil, not even in blazing hot Pelopponessos.

Less 'viscosity worms' is more room for oil. So less is really more. ;)

So.. I am torn between re using belrays EXL 20w50
or Shell rotella 15w40 this season.

Any thoughts?
