Waxing exhaust pipes
« on: March 26, 2019, 05:17:07 AM »
I know this is a silly question but has anyone ever had a problem with waxing the chrome exhaust pipes on their bikes? I wasn’t sure if the heat would have any negative effects. Didn’t want to find out the hard way. Thanks

I would say no.  Unless you like your chrome to turn blue.  Might be tolerable with double wall exhaust.  But, oil or other petroleum product generally stain hot pipes blue, in my experience.

I use chrome polish.

Anything is better than nothing, Chrome Polish, Turtle Wax, Simichrome (aluminum) they all will give protection without blueing or affecting the finish.
