CB750K/C Tank Interchangeability
« on: March 29, 2019, 12:38:42 PM »
The frame mounting systems look the same, but without having a 750C tank in hand I can't measure to be certain. Has anyone swapped them out before?

Sorry, to clarify I want to put a 750C tank on a 750K frame

The 750C would be a DOHC/4 bike, not SOHC. I would ask in the 'other bikes' section.

I suppose but I'm talking about putting a 750C tank on a 750K frame. Edited my original post to clarify that.

What year 750K? In at least the first year of the DOHC/4 there was still a 750K. I assumed you were talking about that version.

1978 frame. From what I can tell by looking the mounting points and hardware, they look like they attach identically

Rear mount appears to use the same rubber strap mechanism, though CMSNL claims they are different part numbers, they look identical. Got a good deal on one with the side wing emblems. Figure I'll clean it up, seal it repaint it and see how it looks. Profile of the tanks appear to be pretty similar as well. This is the actual tank I already redid. Stripped it down to bare, then sanded up to 1500 then a once over with 650 to give it the brushed look. Sealed with 2K clear matte spray.

That looks like a 77 or 78 750 K tank, if it's not its ofvthe Automatic 750.
 So no surprise it fits.
