Stolen Fedex Package
« on: March 29, 2019, 12:55:54 PM »
Anyone have any experience with having a package stolen?

Last year I bought a Mike Reich stage 2.5 head off of a forum member. I had it shipped to Nick at Citylimit Moto. I was planning on having him build a cb650 engine for a project I'm working on. I also had a set of carbs and a vintage NOS Yoshimura Cam shipped to him.

Anyway...plans changed and I decided to hold off on the engine build. On January 22nd I sent him PayPal money to ship the parts to my apartment in Cleveland.  I hadn't heard from him in some time(not uncommon) so on March 6th I dropped him an email.  He promptly replied that he had shipped them Feb. 6th and per his records they were delivered on Feb. 8th. He said he insured the package for $1800, but did not send it signature required for reasons in cannot comprehend,  being it's worth $2500 and it was being shipped to an apartment address.

The package appears to have been stolen from my package room. I filed a claim with Fedex...they claim they fulfilled their contract as they delivered the package.

Does anyone have any experience with this? It appears that I'm out not only the $2500 but also some awesome parts.

Thanks

Stolen packages are increasingly common since so many people buy off the internet these days. I have more valuable things sent to a friends business where they get signed for and then stored in his office until I can come get them.

File a police report and cross your fingers.  Seller nor fedex is responsible.

I would think anyone sending a package worth over a value of 1k...and certainly anyone who would insure a package forn$1800 would require a signature.  Doesn't eBay require a signature for packages over a certain dollar amount?  I'm baffled why this package was insured for so much, but not sent signature required, nor did the shipper notify me it was shipped. He told me he was busy with various motorcycle shows, the least I'd expect was an email saying...hey I shipped your parts. Am I wrong to assume this courtesy?

Dude, someone stole your #$%*...what are you gonna do?  Me personally?, I would blame the person that stole it and take actions to prevent them from stealing more #$%*.
