Let's start a thread where we can post our most recent pick-ups! I love hearing stories of bikes and deals people made and found, so let's post all of the pictures here. I'll start!
Today I picked-up a 1974 CB350 F1, VIN#CB350F-2005601, Build Date 4/74. I found the bike on Craigslist near Janesville, Wisconsin. The seller was the original owner, having bought it new on August 2, 1974. He used it to commute 24 miles round trip to the GM Assembly plant for a total of about 10,500 miles until he bought a bigger bike and stored this one away in a shed on his property. The motor is stuck, as is the front brake, but it ran when parked and he claims to have changed oil regularly. Most else is in good condition. No dents, no scratches, aftermarket pipes are shot, and the inside of the gas tank is really grimey. I think the bike will clean-up nicely.
Here it is as I first saw it in person in the previous owner's shed.
Loaded up on the trailer, the previous owner wanted the licsense plate as a keepsake.
Just pulled in the driveway after being flagged down on the way into the subdivision by a couple of guys that saw the bike on the trailer. They did a U-turn to follow me home to tell me that they both had 350-Fours back in the 1970's and couldn't believe that they saw one on my trailer. They bought matching 350F's when they got out of the Navy. The guys don't have bikes anymore, but seemed to get a kick out of seeing this one.
Here's the right side. All the discoloration on the paint and chrome is dirt from being in the shed. The mirror brakets are rusty, but most of the other bright work under the crud is pretty nice.
Back view.
Gauges; faces not in the best shape. The washers and original turn signal brackets are rusty, but the handle bars are just coated in crud.
The tray with lid and all of the tools & the Owner's manual is there.
I know a bunch of us start threads when a new bike comes home, and that's great. I just think it could be fun to have a thread where everyone could share their most recent purchase fresh off (or on) the trailer. It could be a project bike, a roadworthy bike or even a restored bike. If you just picked it up - share it with us! It doesn't have to be an involved post with lot's of info, pictures and a brief description works too. If this thread builds up a following it could be a fun place to check out a variety of different bikes in the before stage and perhaps read some interesting tales of the chase.
Regards,
Brad
