Hey ,both guys that wanted to go on a ride probably cant, if I leave early tommorow, or tonite , I may stil get there , not making promises.   I think my wiring issue is better, the worry factor is gone I think.. I will know a few hours out, if it's good.
 It's only around 375 miles.

Yeah, that's the Urban Norton.
The manx combo tank came from Delhi and got modified by Ziegler's.
The seat is a placcard from 'nam that likely won't bee seen on at the finnish

Did you see under the tank, was it patchwork ?
They are cheap but not the highest quality... a lot of times. .

This one wasn't  cheap.  Has some minor flaws in production but is not a total abomination.

Only needed reworked by the weld shop to make it convert from wideline to commando frames.  Solid material, picked up a few blemishes in the manhandling process.  Nothing a little wd40 and 3500grit couldn't blend out.

Leaving the farm again.
Drama Llama's up and down the street.  A not so fun dysfunctional family.  Cold and damp giving me sinus build up and tinnitus again.  Felt sick after spending one night in my old caveman camper.

Got to ride the 750 and 550 again.  That little scoot is a hoot.  Even if it's 1/3 of what the fj is.  The headlight bulb gave out in the triple threat.  Always something with that project bike.

Meeting a buddy of mine in the desert for some real excitement.  836 miles to the rendezvous point.  Will definitely be a learning experience.

After that, maybe I'll visit the giant crack in the ground we call the Grand Canyon.  Then link up with people in my kind of scene back in Phoenix.

Tomorrow is the 22nd - reach out to your favorite people and make sure they're having good times alright?

Alright alright alright

Enjoy the ride bloke, and yes everyone reach out tomorrow to a friend but don't think that's the only day it's a good thing to do. I'm not afraid to admit, I got a few screws loose but the thing that keeps me going is mates ( and Mrs spotty too) just calling for no good reason to talk bikes or beer or whatever. A random SMS has much the same effect
Enough spotphilosophy, and BM650, did you notice the significance of the miles to do ?

836.... About the right size for a big bore kit, eh ?
i blame Terry

Yeah, I found a suitable 750 candidate at the summit of 89a in Jerome.  If it's a runner it's worth the cardboard price tag.  If it's not, there would have to be some delicate haggling.  Lest things get thrown off cliffs 😵

Anyway.  I did it.  Churned out the 12 hour run from home to Bonneville Salt Flats! 🤘🐏🏍️🇮🇲

Didn't want to jinx anything before I got here and checked in.  Getting a late dinner before hitting the rack.  My buddy from Moto Int'l should be in town sometime with his Italian thoroughbred.

These back to back long-mile runs are starting to wear on me tho.  Guess I have to train more before I can do an IBA rally.

I hope to have a grand ol time this week.  Gonna be busy as I earn my seat here.  Gotta call the organizers in the morning.  Try not to go totally Gonzo with the amateur press coverage 😂😂.

Of course, what happens after Bonneville is anyone's guess.  I have a new hometown in AZ.  People that want me around.  Roads to carve.  Jobs to hunt down.  Ongoing negotiations with MMi.  As well as an AZ ombudsman to give my $.02 to.

It's amazing how busy life can get.

But for now.  Food.  Gotta go!

If you ride your bike on the salt, it will get damage.
Even if you spend a huge amount of time cleaning it before you leave,  you will miss stuff.
And a year later you will see damage  from the stuff you missed.

But the way we minimized it, we would park our bikes at the Boat Launch... aka End of Pavement.   Where you pay to get in.
Then grab her stuff for the day and hitchhike out to the track. Rare that it ever takes ten minutes to get a ride.

A mate took he's "salt bird racer" to the salt flats in south australia a few years ago. Got it home
and hosed it down and put it away. 9 months later when it was time to start getting it ready again.

The only reliable way to get it clean,  is a complete teardown and cleaning.

Haha xD good this this is an aluminum and plastic bike 😜

Basically commuted to "work" this morning.  Ran it out to the pits, down to the finish line, and back.  Then gave it a dust bath on the backroad and wandered up the volcano peak trail.

It was a good, productive, and fun day.  Learning lots, making myself useful.  Exploring solo until my buddy arrives.

Made me so happy to see the lucky numbers on a 200mph vmax.

What , you think aluminum is OK around salt ?
Take lots of pics of your bike because by next year this times it won't be the same..

I saw a bike , I mean the parts of it.. bike made only a few passes, then sat 2 or 3 years, then was torn apart... what a freaking mess.. can't say you were not warned.,

Are you sleeping  under the star's ? Night sky is incredible there, and make sure you get to the salt for sun up at least once.

I had to deal with briney corrosives before.  after running the old Honda along hood canal in the late autumn.

Bikes that get ridden, don't stay clean.

I'll have to take the body off in the near future for a major service interval anyway.

If things go according to plan, a lot of these factory parts will be coming off.  As I work toward the fjrpocalypse extreme makeover.

Need more ground clearance.
