First Full Day of Festivities On the Flats!
The staff are a fun bunch, and the hometown heroes finally made it in.
Got to run back and forth to my station.  Mill about in the pits, direct traffic, and try to make myself useful.

Watching some people get a feel for their machines on the salt was neat.

Wondering if this 350f will do 85 in 2nd gear

All about that Squid Lyfe.  Even I

Things are getting lively today.  Streamliners lining up to go nowhere.  Rider down and a smoky blown motor too.

Camped out in the great wide open, staring at mountains, thinking of what sorts of other shenanigans could be happening to make this place into a festival.

So many flies around the station tent.  None by the porta-potty.  Ironic.  Taken to salt sculpting in the free time.

Talked with a couple of mechanics about their solutions to the salt problems.  Which when compared to sand and snow seem pretty simple to overcome.  We have the technology.

Finally got a loud bike down the track.  Something doesn't sound tuned in tho.

The misadventure continues!

Races are over.
Engines were blown.
People got hurt.
Tears were shed.
Cries of frustration buried under the sound of warming motorcycles.

The change of scenery to mile 4 saw a lot more action.  What came into the bull pit were simply outstanding in their field.

If you were at Bonneville you should have stopped by our pit.

If that was the double turbo 350 it didn't do so well. He couldn't get any speed past 3rd gear. Borrowed some sprockets to no avail.

Hiro went down at the end of the timing mile at 212mph. Slow run for him. The International course was really #$%*ty in that area especially the first day. Last I heard he may have incurred just a broken arm. Last year he rode out a blown tire.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Hiro to went down last year as far as I know, fender too tight and the tire grew.
I saw the video in the bar, I asked what happened to the rider, they pointed down the bar.. he is sitting right there.   Ha ha.

If I had known you were there, Jerry.

Otherwise, I try not to crash the pits of people I don't really know.

Good Lord man... you were right there.
I rode 375 miles on a crapping out bike that barely started.,  to spend 15 minutes with Joe the fender guy.. at Tenino.

When we were working on the diesel streamliner at Bonneville,  we welcomed hundreds of people into our pit.
If you stand there looking, you almost always will get welcomed in.
Jeez man you were right there..

The best part about this forum, has been the people I met from the forum..

Don't worry Frank, got to meet some amazing people being posted at mountain mile 4.

Buell Bros, Stranger & Co, Fez Monkeys, Jay Allen stole my seat, it was good times.

Did chat with the Dallas Honda crew about their prototype bike.  2021 cbr with the image disruptor livery.

Was really happy to help the Japanese teams when their torpedo bikes tipped over.  Mobitec and NS-Tool both.

Dr. Taxi had the coolest helmet on the field.

One guy that frequents the salt said he leaves a lawn sprinkler running under his car for a day. No pressure, just keeping it wet and melting the salt. Pressure drives the salt in, water melts it and flushes it away.

It's the little bits you miss that fester away..
By this time next year you will see it in places you thought you didn't have places.

Rust is easy to deal with.
Waterborne salt corrosion gets in where rust wont,  in the thinnest of places.  When you finally notice, it's too late.
In a years or year and a half   you will see.
A buddy has a dually that has been on the salt for 5 or six races, it pretty tough now, and he always tried to wash it off.  Electrical ailments that come and go, it has that a lot..  i drove it.. no interior light.. 1/2 hour later they work again.. that and a lot more.,

Well good thing this bike is decked in plastic.

The bike is coming due for a 16k service interval  - the body will come off then.

Somethings have been bothering me lately.

The reality of moving above and beyond the influence of narcissistic abuse.
It's a thing.  Seemingly handed down through the generations like a right of passage.

Needless to say, I'm calling bullsh!t.

Gaslighting, Threats of abandonment or discarding, the "never good enough" treatment.  It's getting real fcukin old.  The intimidation, rumor milling.  Mob-scare tactics. The constant demands turning to monopolization and control.

It's all a hot steaming pattie on a dust bowl prairie.

I already know why it's my fault, I've been informed time and time again that my efforts are unsatisfactory.  I'm fully aware that nobody likes me and I'm generally unwelcome pretty much everywhere.

I'm just gonna say how much of a goddamn lie all of that is.  It's an introjection of someone else's perverse reality into my psyché.  Sad part is, all of it is a projection of their own experience.  A self-fulfilling prophecy now weaponized in a desperate attempt to take control of another person.

Being in a "vulnerable" position makes someone an easy target for people with this pathology.  Alone, isolated, playing life with a handicap, resource-limited, and just silent enough to look like a sheep..

Guess they never heard that cows aren't as dumb as sheep.

I dont know what to say, to all this.
A few people from the forum have been in the same place as you, and you could have met up with them.
But for whatever reason that ended up not happening, more than once.
don't know what it is you seek , but  taking a few minutes to meet up with people, can be a rewarding fun experience.

It's not forum people, thankfully.

The lack of usernames floating above people's head IRL makes recognizing people somewhat difficult.
