Topic: CB400F Oil Cooler w/thermostat question

Hi Guys,
About ten years or so ago was selling oil cooler kits from PLOT that included a thermostat.
I am now wanting one for my daily driver and am going to replicate the kit.
I need to know the length of the oil lines supplied, and if anyone has one maybe some pictures so I can see the routing.

I will use an Earl's cooler and have all the mounting hardware already from TTR400.

I put a Lockhart cooler on a 400 - it seems about the same size as yours although maybe thinner.
It's really tight for room between the frame and engine, forward of the frame the fender interferes at full fork compression. I did not find anywhere to put the thermostat I have, yours looks smaller though. My lines go up from the adapter to the radiator between the 1-4 and 2-3 pipes, I have the cooler with nipples down because I could not figure out how to get a fit and a hose route with them up although I think up is better as it will fill up completely - as I have it I expect there will aways be some air trapped in the cooler. For a "thermostat" I put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator in cold weather.

I have oil coolers on a couple of my 400's already, but they do not have an inline thermostat.
My oil coolers are mounted nipples up and my lines are running the same as yours between the pipes. Like you I have used cardboard during the cooler months to help the oil get up to temp.
I want the inline thermostat so I don't have to futz around with the cardboard.

I've seen a few different ways of running the oil lines when using an inline thermostat and it looks like the most common routing is around the left side of the pipes and down.
