Has anyone seen this manual?
« on: January 26, 2007, 03:17:25 AM »
This guide was bought just a few years ago after sitting on the shelf for soo long. I really like this maintenance guide because it has a ton of info crammed into a very thin book. In just 72 pages it educates on all manner of mechanical and electric systems for motorcycles. It explains how different style carbs work, how 2 cycle compares to 4 cycle engines. It has great diagrams of engines and frame parts. It has a glossary of mechanical terms and their meaning like centripital force and calorific value. It does all of this and includes info on four bikes, and it shows part changes through the years. My CB350 has a different fork design for almost every year. Wow! :o
I love this little book, but have never seen one anywhere. I wonder if it was made for other models.
I would like to know if you've seen these?

I got that very same booklet, and, as you say, it is different from the rest in that it combines a tech book with specifics in the models covered. That is, it teaches the novice about mechanics, and tells him how to do it in the Honda models covered.

Exactly for that reason I have never used, because there are some other manuals with more data. The Glenn manual is very good because it has a lot of pictures in big size. The Chilton manual covers a miriad of models, and for that reason sometimes it's quasi-telegraphic -but is a great reference-. Of course, nothing beats the shop manual.

I've never looked at a shop manual. I'm sure they're great but they price out on eBay for around $30. I'm a novice and I get great use out of the book. I have a Clymers for large fours which is more detailed with instruction for repair, but I just love how useful the Intertec book is.

Here is a cross section of a CB450 motor from the Intertec book:
