ScreenName Source? Meaning? Where'd it come from?
« on: April 11, 2019, 09:39:28 am »
I get asked this sometimes.  The word is today's Dictionary.com word of the day:

I recently restored and sold a 77 cb750f, and am nearly finished with a (former basket case) cb750k5.  This is a place to share, learn and enjoy.  I am grateful to and for 99+% of this site's membership.

jumped in a wasps nest when i was 5, got a couple of hundred stings, nearly died...

turns out the wasp venom actually changed my DNA ( yes it can happen ) and for the last 50 years whenever i get bitten/stung/scratched by just about anything it will get infected, swell up, scab over and last a couple of months

i've kinda got used to it but it still freaks some folk out
i blame Terry

There's a method to Honda part numbers.   5 digits-3 digits- 3 to 5 digits.  The first set of 5 digits tell you what the part is (air filter/oil filter...).  The second set of 3 tells you what bike(or car,lawnmower/outboard) the part was originally designed for.  The third set has to do with supersedes or color options, or in the case of standard hardware, size.

Back to the second set. When Honda designs a vehicle, it is assigned a 3 digit code, which remains with that vehicle for the life of the model. It can be numbers or letters or a combination of both. "333" is the code for my bike, the CB350F.

Long way to go, but you probably lernt sumpfin.

333 I did learn sumptin, I thought your screen name meant you were only half bad???? go figer ???

Mine on the other hand is pretty lame how I got it. When I was in High school , about 50 years ago, my sister (who also went to school there) was giving me a ride home in Mom's car. She had a friend with her and introduced me to her  " Peggy this is my brother Jimmy", then they both started laughing after her friend said "JIGGER"??? I don't hear very good from losing my hearing about 3 or 4 years earlier and didn't get the joke. The next thing I know my sister and her boyfriend are both calling me Jigger,WTF??? That pissed me off!

A few years later I started racing Desert and joined a club. My "BEST" friend introduced me to the group and said "this guy will swear up and down that his name is Jim, but don't believe him for a second....his real name is (you guessed it )JIGGER! I raced with that club for 5 years and people who joined just after me never knew my real name.

Now my Dad is also named Jim and it worked out pretty good being called Jigger because it was a way to identify which Jim someone was talking about. Plus it was pretty funny when we were doing a room addition for a Black family and my Dad hollered for me and I answered (I am as white as they come). The home owner thought that was about the funniest thing he had heard in a long time and we all got a good laugh out of it.

As far as what it means........I guess your imagination could take you almost any direction, but it's all good.

Mine's from the Drew Carey Show. It was the name of his softball team, The Good Tryers. He made a joke about never winning but always giving it a good try.

Because I think old motorcycles are cool.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

I'm kinda like Steve F. My Mom came up with Don, my Dad brought the R.

On some other sites I'm Supercompdad. We race a Supercomp dragster and my Daughter drives it. We finished second in points last season after a real run at the championship. She had a baby this week so racing is up in the air for a bit. There's a story for you.

This pic pretty much explains it all. We had a lot of fun with our boys when they were growing up so when I got my first email account many moons ago I chose the username Bailgang and it's pretty much stuck with me since.

Used to shoot competitively and I taught rifle marksmanship. Certified RSO (Range safety officer)  Up until I developed tremors in my head. Shake so bad now that lining up a target in a scope at 1k yards is near impossible.
Sparks1= shooting a single round.
