Smoking CB350F after rebuild
«

Ive got a smoking CB350F that I've rebuilt. New rings, professional valve job, all new gaskets. Bike runs great but smokes which it did NOT do prior to rebuild. Plug #3 the only plug clean. Could I have damaged rings on install? If I need to pull apart again does anyone have a suggestion on a proper tool to compress the rings and make installing the jugs easier? Looking for suggestions. Thanks!

What pistons and rings did you use? Honda or aftermarket? Was it bored out at all? If so, what clearance did you request?

Also did you verify all the rings were put in right side up?

I used aftermarket rings. i did not bore. I used inside micrometers on all cylinders, no cylinders out of round. I installed all top rings with the markings facing up.

What brand of rings? There are many reports, myself included, of horrible smoking on 350F's when using Cruizin Image rings. I rebuild mine twice, and each time oil poured past the rings. That was both before and after a fresh valve job.

To be honest, not sure of the brand. Whats your recommendation for rings?

Are you using the stock Honda pistons? If so, buy OEM rings for sure! They can be a bit tricky to find, but they're out there. I found a set in Vancouver for about $50 when I did mine a while back.
