So I just had to buy this 1969 Z50 exactly like the one I had as a kid. And the guy threw in a pretty decent 1978 XR75 when I bought the Z50. Anyway, I'm always checking the Z50s out and saw that about a dozen of them sold at the Mecum auction in Vegas this past January for about $4-5k on average, most being restored or looking pretty nice. So after the excitement of having my childhood bike back had worn off in a few hours, I actually had an answer when my wife asked 'What are you going to do with it?'. I told her we were going to take the Z50 to Vegas next January and sell it to pay for the trip. That idea was fine with her. I'm not saying these things are worth $5k but if folks are still paying in that range next year, it will be a successful venture. Worst case, I end up in Vegas, the wife gets us comp'd rooms anyway (she might have a habit). I'll report back in January. Feel free to tell me if I'm crazy.
