We do it nice because we do it twice. That is what my framers would tell me when they screwed up.

Gramps used to say, "Now boys Woman are a lot like Farming. "Always, now I mean Always, Plow deep, and Cultivate often".

I always thought in the earlier of the comparison, I would rather cultivate first. Then Plow deep.

When referring to poor performing trucks, tractors, etc.

That wouldn't pull a fat girl off a trike.

Some more measurement related:
An inch is as good as a mile.
Close, but no cigar.
Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
If it was a snake, it would have bit you.

My reply to the last is always "if it was a snake I wouldn't have been looking for it!"

"as tight as a duck's @rse" (watertight)
"as tight as a camel's @rse in a sandstorm" (airtight)

These ones are usually used when referring to people with deep pockets and short arms!  ;D

Thanks for remembering that Frank only we called it two axe handles and a can of Snoose wide, There was a lot of stuff on the coast when I was growing up that your mother would wash your mouth out with soap for even hinting at.
