Electrical Issues K3
« on: April 23, 2019, 05:38:43 AM »
So I am having issues late in my rebuild. I have started the bike off of a little gas in a bottle with 2 lines from it but after install of the new exhaust and a couple months of other tedious tasks the starter won't engage. It just hums, so I thought it was bad, I got a new one and same thing just hums. The solenoid clicks when I press the start button but that's it just the click and a slight hum. Lights work etc... Could a bad battery cause this?

so I went out and put the starter cable to the battery and grounded it with no luck.. when I did the same to my lawnmower battery it spun.. so i'm guessing get a new battery first?

Would it just be the main ground? or would it be the small one under the seat as well?

When you say hums do you mean it spins without turning the engine or just sits there not moving?

If you put the starter cable on the positive side of the battery and nothing happens you are missing a ground somewhere or your battery is weak.

Why don't you charge the battery or alt least measure it's voltage?

it hums without moving.. I ordered an AGM battery today so i'm hoping that is the issue.. I am going to grind down the areas where the grounds connect and see if that helps as well.
