I really love the moto gadget stuff and other high end LEDs but why the #$%* do they use such small gauge wire.

Small gauge wire is all that's needed for those signals, you should be able to use heavier, no?

Small gauge carry the voltage and current required for the LEDs so, added material only adds to the weight and expense, raising the price un-neededly

Yes but if the small wires are causing difficulties for whatever reason, there's no reason not to up the wire gauge.

I found installation instructions for that cycle x rear disc conversion kit they used to sell, that one on ebay is still listed. I could easily swap it all over onto my hub. The fabrication required would be the brake stay, there are some tabs already welded on the swing arm that could potentially be used as an attachment points for the brake stay. Thats not a lot of fab work to get a rear disc set up back there. Being able to maintain the matching hubs was my main concern and any other option involved un-lacing my wheel. If I deduct cost of getting my wheel re-laced which is about $150, it would cost me around $280. Would anyone be interested in a hub laced to a 17" rim? This is basically bolt on for me minus the welding and some slight drilling.

edit: I would have to swap to some rear sets or something...forgot about that.

Cleaned up the electrical front and rear, wired up proper pigtails coming out of the headlight bucket to hook up and un hook the turn signals easily, changed the 30amp fuse to a 20amp, pulled the halogen bulb in the rear and one of the two contact points behind the bulb was melted, hence why i had to taillight and only a brake light. I purchased a OEM Honda round plug switch so I shouldn't have any other issues with this thing, Phil said the halogen bulb back there is drawing a lot, so im prepared for another issue and have a spare bulb handy. The tachometer oil seal got replaced today was well, the one that was in there was installed backwards, no wonder it was leaking so much, replaced the one on my buddies bike as well.

time for new caliper rebuild kit and tires.

I noticed handling issues immediately when I had my box installed with the first rack i attempted and it was sitting out way further than the rear wheel. The best way to describe it was the front felt lighter and like it wanted to lift up all the time, in turns, it was incredibly wobbly and the front wheel feel like it didnt want to make contact with the pavement. Im surprised you dont feel any of that considering where your pelican box is sitting, crazy. Thank you for the compliments, there will be revisions to it.

Sounds like your swingarm bushings are worn and loose. Does it have tapered steering head bearings?

the wobble all went away once the box was moved over the center of the wheel, is non existent when box is off. The bearings in the front are not tapered, stock ball bearings but they are in good shape. The bushings were in good shape too unless they have gone bad since assembly. When i take it all off the bike is butter again.

Bit of grease on side cover grommets will allow the side covers to be removed without breaking tabs off…

Halogen lamp in tail light risks melting the tail lights plastic…too much heat. Better to use a high output LED from SuperBrightLEDs

That Shoei fairing looks good on there,very good protection from the wind.

Great protection. When the fairing is on, the bike breaks 70mph with ease. Adjusted as high as it can be, the wind breaks over my helmet and i get zero resistance. Love it.

How does the bike handle now that you have that custom swingarm installed? Ok at in-town speeds but great on Interstates and touring at speeds above 70 ?

How does the bike handle now that you have that custom swingarm installed? Ok at in-town speeds but great on Interstates and touring at speeds above 70 ?

I've got the most ride time on my 550 so I've been comparing handling to that mostly. I LOVE the handling on my 550 and after this first season with the 750 I was pretty comfortable trying to throw the 750 around in the same way. I didnt notice too much between a stock 750 and mine...I only have like 30 miles on a stock 750. I was hoping to capture the same "boat" like coasting feeling of the BMW R80 I toured on with the extended wheel position. I didnt go further than 2 inches so it shouldn't change much. The ride is still kind of rough but I think Ill try soemthing other than the cheapest rear shocks you can buy for these bikes. My 750 really likes to chug along around 80-85 on the freeway. Floats like a butterfly.

I just received a late Christmas/bday gift from my aunt- guess I’m upgrading.

Ordered oberon bar end oval mirrors, Ive been eye balling these for  couple years but wasnt ready to pay 100 buck per for mirrors. Revival has them on sale for 63 bucks a pop so I got them. I need a m unit wire kit and come up with a way to mount new electrical and maintain the stock oil tank.

edit:
 I ordered the wrong mirrors, I got the 22mm bar end and I needed the 12-19mm, which they only have in silver. I sent an email requesting the exchange and shortly after that the item was no longer available in the size I needed...not sure if they took it off the shelf for me or if it was ordered by someone else. Poor research on my part..now a waste of time and resources.

I purchased those mirrors from a retailer and was reminded to alway voice any concern or damage even if it doesn't bother me. You can see the small scratches on the edge of one installed, I figured since they are going to be exposed to the elements and would get scratched up that it didn't matter.

I ordered the wrong size 22mm collets, I sent them back in for an exchange and they denied me due to "the scratches on there would prevent them from selling to another customer". I ordered the wrong part, I should have at least sent an email expressing disappointment with the scratches though I really didn't give a #$%*. Either way, I had them send them back to me and I ended up purchasing oberon bar ends with the appropriate size collets.

learned my lesson.

any reason why I shouldn't install my m unit in the same place the original electrical components are in? Any reason why mounting it vertically  in the same manner would be a bad idea? Ive only really seen them laid down flat under a seat..

edit: nvm, I remember a member around here who mounted it to the underside of his bike..if he can do that then vertical wont be an issue.

Stock side 34” dual side 30”, waiting on banjos. Should I get shinko230 tour master or Bridgestone spitfires, I’ll have to go back down to a 120 rear from a 130 if i choose spitfire.

Has anyone ever sold an entire bike to finance really fancy #$%* for another bike?

do you think my brakes will still squeal with beringer brakes?

Also, I really love the fit and finish of these oberon bar end mirrors, but my bars are really wide, and looking down that low is just kind of annoying.

Mine don't squeal at all and the bike stops like a modern R6.  I didn't pay anywhere near that for my twin disc set up.  Of course, Beringer used my bike to develop the mounts and thereafter for promotion.
