I've got a Shoei fairing you can have for postage if you need it, it may be for a square headlight.

Here it is:

thank you Alan, Ill let you know if it comes to that. The rehab for this fairing is coming along nicely. Getting ready to paint it now.

oh wait, do you have the screen for it?

It arrived with no screen but it did have a little manila envelope full of new nylon screws for one. Are you interested in those and maybe the mounting brackets?

I have all of the appropriate attachments. I found a company that sells the shields, it looks like it will run me around 200+  bucks for a new one. They make them ranging from sporty 5" shield offered in any color spectrum it seems, to a 14" which is what I have and broke. They have a 10" that changes the lines of it altogether and I really like it. This specific model is discontinued everywhere online right now...Ill just stick with my busted #$%* for now.
Here is the link to the place and here is a picture of the 10"...tell me you dont like the look of that one better?

I didn't clear coat the rack because I know im not going to keep this one, I was just impatient and wanted to get it on there. On the way home I watched it like a hawk, the middle rack supports that would clamp to the grab bar were cut off so my tail light could go back in the same spot. Im going to have to come up with another set of supports to eliminate the wobble in the rack while in motion. Its still sturdy.

Question, Ive been able to coast as long as I desire, come to a complete stop using my rear brake and no hands, been able to pull my hands off the bars and coast with no wobble. I tried today and it started to wobble at slow speed, really caught me off guard, is it because of the case back there or is my steering all of sudden loose today? It was some scary #$%* at first, Im glad I tested it instead of just doing it and not paying attention, assuming it would be the same. If I had just left the cb500 grab bar on I could have left the tail light mount and only installed the rack and i would have been done.

what do you guys think, too high? dont like the angle, just right...? lmk.

super windy here today, was wishing i had my fairing every single second of riding.

I'd say it's caused the center of gravity shifting from adding the case. If you add more weight to the case does it change the wobble? Perhaps changing rear tire pressure will help?

Today I changed my spark plugs, caps and rubbers. Whatever plugs that were in the motor when i picked it up is what was in there. Now, I looked at my plugs about 1000 miles ago and they were all nice and tan color, I pulled them today and #2 was black, #1 was darkening, 3,4 were still nice and tan...pictures below. I pulled my carb bowls and removed the jets, replaced the 120s with 110s, tightened my chain, took it out and Im thinking the 115s are going to be perfect. I looked at my jets today because I coulda sworn the bike was running/idling differently than it was he day before, thought maybe i goofed and put different size jets in but all were the same, the mesh cover over my tail pipe is black as well, so I was wondering if it was all just running too rich. Im going to put 100 miles on the bike and check the plugs again.

As far as my bike and the way its handling now, I lifted the front end and looked for any play front to back and there was none, I wasnt able to feel any flat spots turning side to side either. I think with this rack the case sits out a little too far, I need something a little more compact with not such a huge surface area, I only need as much as the top box mounting plate needs for its mount points. Im going to try modifying it before i spring for a rack altogether.

The stability through the turns are really weird now too, the added weight and length on the back is really throwing stuff off, gotta get it closer and lower.

Besides the fact that I need to keep my hands on the bars at all time now, the bike is awesome with this case, going 80-90mph, no problem, my entire backpack fits in this thing, Its amazing just gotta get handling sorted out and ill head to the Upper Peninsula and relax.

edit
I moved the mounting plate forward but not too far so the spacing for the brackets was still good. This gets the center of the box at least over the rear wheel and not behind it. The rack needs another cross member at the rear of it, that way I can really over hang the mounting plate over the lip of the seat. I'm a solo rider so this wont bother me, actually works out better for me. The other thing is removing the box and plate would take less time than it took me to unstrap my stuff on my road trip. This solves getting the box back over the actual bike and not hanging out there in limbo, May change the second bolt on position to the open prong type instead of a drilled hole so i can lift up on the rack and remove it if i want to.

any recommendations for good soft bags?

the wobble is there still with or without weight, but i just took a look at the rack and the right side bolt that slide through the rack bracket and the grab bar is not tight, it threaded in but wont tighten just kinda pops and spins when it should get tight. Ill swap that bolt tomorrow and see if that is whats causing so much of the wobble. Hopefully its that, then Ill reduce the surface area of the rack, add two more support brackets and this thing should be gucci.

The rack broke in half on I/75 heading to the shop, I glanced in my mirror and saw a drooping so pulled over. It was resting on top of the taillight so the tubes didn’t completely break, otherwise I would have lost the entire thing. I broke it off, put it on my seat and used two straps I have in the trunk. It scratched up my seat but it’s only a 30 dollar cover.

Custom rack is now in play.

How'd it ride after the break&bungie with the weight further forward?

That's the thing with antique racks, a little rust inside and the walls thin, then they snap at a stress point.

all of the wobble in low speed and wobble in the front wheel in turns is now gone again.

I broke down a bike for a restoration, helped my buddy rebuild his cl350 after Phil did a top end rebuild, bore job, yada, also pulled my other buddies motor out for warranty work as well as getting his bike ready for a quick facelift before he relocates to Georgia.
I still havent sourced any forward controls set up for a 750 yet.

I tried going to pontiac steel but but they were closed until Monday, otherwise I would have the material for a custom rack and would be mocking that up as we speak.

When the rack cracked on the road and landed on the twilight, it broke the twilight mount, once that broke its disrupted ground, all my lights started acting up. I was able to weld it back together and everything is working fine.

620 plus miles Detroit to Chicago and back - I love this bike.

I got pulled over today by Michigan state police about two hours from home on I94, HERE IS THE THING.

I havent registered this bike in my name yet, no insurance on this bike yet, but I put a plate from my 78' bmw on it and took off. He said he flicked me for the orientation of my license plate (I havent changed it yet because every other cop never said anything). When he pulled me over I gave him my license and thats it lol, told him I didnt have the tittle on me or insurance, and he confirmed the plate on my bike was from a different bike. He ran my VIN, said it wasnt even in the system any more and told me to hurry up and get it registered, he sent me on my way. THANK GOD. My heart sunk when i saw his lights cause I saw him look at me as i passed him, when he popped up in my mirror I for sure pictured my bike getting towed away and me calling for a ride.

my speedo was way off on the way there, facing a 15mph head wind, the speedo was off by 10pmh, on the way home with the wind behind me the speedo was a little more accurate? am i crazy? against the speedo on my phone is was only off by 3-5 mph on the way home.

about suspension, how the #$%* do i keep my bike from hopping off the ground when it hits these terrible #$%*ing speed bumps in the middle of the freeways.
My bike almost bucks me off, do I not have my suspension dialed on properly?
Bike was 100% for me, I was getting about 150-160 miles per tank but didnt completely run it dry today.

...less pre-load, should be able to lift sag out of the suspension then watch it settle back down, somewhat further with you on the bike.  Set to a specified percentage of total travel available.  If this can't be achieved via pre-load adjustment, yoiu have incorrect spring length/rate.

yeah, it makes you feel ridiculous.  ...but I bet if you saw video there would not be as much movement as you felt.  That said, it's been years since I rode Lakeshore.  I don't like Chicago anymore.  Much prefer the spaciousness of Detroit.

Yeah 94 is horrible. You can take route 12 a good portion from Illinois to Michigan and it may add an hour if even that, plus it's a much more scenic route with twisties. Then again, they are doing construction on parts but it's still free flowing with cones restricting 1 lane.
