Happy Tuesday from CT!
« on: May 07, 2019, 06:57:46 am »
Hello! I live in Plainfield, CT and recently acquired an all original 1972 CB350/4. It has around 16k miles and has sat for at least five years. I plan on getting it running and riding it! I also have a 1974 CL450, a 1982 CM450C (with parts bike), a 1984 Aspencade, a 1974 Suzuki GT550, and a 2004 KTM 950 Adventure. I started out on a Ducati Monster 620 and I have a thing for v-twin engines, but not Harleys! I would like to find a nice CX500 or GL650 eventually.

Anyway, I plan to spend some time here and grow my beard of knowledge. Anyone want to share a little known fact about any bike I own?

Welcome from NE MN,

No tidbits for the 350F.  Now if the question was about the GL1200A I might have an opinion.

Thanks for the welcome, MD. This is my thread, so what do you know about the 'Wing?

You can add true cruise control to the Aspencade.

How do you add real cruise control to the GL1200A? And can it be added to other bikes?

Welcome from South Texas.  The GL1200 is a great machine.  Make sure the timing belts have been replaced and check the stator connection to the wire harness, (The connection is by the battery post, facing the battery L/H side) The stator is the "achilles heel" on that Goldwing.

Here is the link that describes the install.

Thanks for that info, guys! I already went through the charging system wiring on the GL. It charges at 14.3v now. Very nice! Are the timing belts that big of an issue? Interference engine?

The safe thing is to change after 10 years or 40,000 miles.  On a used bike that you don't know when they were changed, you change them.  There are some good videos out there that show the process.   Personally the radiator hose caused more grief than the timing belt.

I decided to buy my cb350F after reading that it was the only bike Mr. Honda owned, and he used it to commute to the factory. I was concerned I would find it too small, but figured if it was good enough for Mr. Honda it was good enough for me. I’ve since put a cb400F motor in because unlike Mr. Honda, I weigh 240lbs.

Hello to all! Nice to know there are guys nearby! Maineiak07 and duveybearson: I just took a ride on my Ninja 250 yesterday to Holland, MA which took me right through Pomfret! Union, CT and Holland, MA are both great riding towns with fun, scenic roads.
