Newbie from Michigan
« on: March 29, 2007, 09:50:19 AM »
Hello all from the Great Lakes state.  It's been a warm week and I have been itching to ride... but my project is incomplete.  Hopefully later today I can add a few pictures of my dilapidated CB550 F supersport from 1977.  Found it for the low price of 250 bucks and over the winter I took almost everything off I could and brought it inside to be cleaned, restored or just looked at to make sure it's condition would be satisfactory.  Up till now I have been doing fine, infact I only ran into 1 hurdle... Coils and I know how to solve it (buy new ones since someone left the ignition on way too long).  However I am cheap

I have been rebuilding sets of crab racks for Cb550 and 500S for the past couple of months and putting them on Eba.  some of you may have seen them, and soon enough I will be done with that enterprise because I ran out of leaf springs to make full racks.  Very sorry about the shameless plug to my own enterprise but I figure if it means I can afford a set coils... then I must.

I have read so many articles on this site and I can't thank you all enough for you great wisdom, knowledge and desire to help others in despair after taking on a project such as mine.  You all have save my butt a few times, and kept me from diving into projects that otherwise would have been lengthy.

Salutations from Kalamazoo Mi

Thank you for the nice words and welcome.  I am down here in sunny Southern Calif. just finishing up the rebuild of my CB350F carbs.  Boy were they a mess!  It still won't be street ready but will run (no lights).  I have my HD XL883C to calm the riding bug.

Here is a link to my project thread.

Lots of money to be made in crab racks, judging by the price you have to pay for crabs in restaurants.

it is very true, I spell as well as most 5 year olds.  And crab racks would be more appealing some days.

I like you cali bike, very nice and it looks like it started in okay condition.  you'll all have to see the pictures I post later today... the two wheel machine I got is a bit rough... and well could use a lot of work.  But I rather here the motor spin over before I go ahead and make it look pretty.
