Topic: To Fairing or Not To Fairing...

So I was browsing facebook marketplace and found a "Cafe Fairing" for $30.. I have a bit of dead space between my speedo unit and headlight and would like a way to cover it up, so through the magic of photoshop, I did a dry fit. I'm unsure how I feel about it..

Your headlight seems to be a couple inches farther forward than stock, which is why it looks odd. Forum member Mooshie has that style fairing on her 550 and it looks very good. I have seen her bike in person and the proportions are much better than what I am seeing in your photo mock up.

Yeah, I just scaled it so it was close to the headlight diameter, so probably not perfect by any means. Guess i could see if the guy could bring it by and see it in person maybe. I was never really a fan of fairings, but theyre growing on me. Guess I could look into brackets that don't go out as far, but I like the style of the ones I got. Plus, I hate to not use my $70 brackets.

During extended highway time a fairing makes a giant difference in comfort. I have a small removable windshield I install for longer trips and I am toying with a more café style fairing I picked up cheap at a swap meet a couple years ago. It was made for Harley's, so had a 5 1/4 inch opening, but some time with a Dremel opened it up to fit the 7" Honda light.

Before you buy headlight ears,  hold the bucket where it looks good, THEN measure how long your light ears should be.
On some fairings the headlight fits into the fairing..

Yea, the light is a bit more forward than I'd like, but I've been buying it one piece at a time over two years and what Ive wanted it to look like had evolved over the time. All part of the fun!
