So can I substitute a 1978 Airbox assembly and all parts for my missing 1973 components?

If not, has anyone tried the quick and dirty  fix for pods?  Cover most of the pod with an impervious sleeve, so as to give the pod the same amount of resistance as the original airbox.  There's a Youtube video on this.

78 is different, especially box to carb rubbers so wont fit. Except for recirc bits all assemblies from 70 to76 will fit and there are more of those out there than 77/78

The '78 box will fit with the correct carb to air box rubbers.
