Need Master Link Help for Original '81 CB650C Chain
« on: May 13, 2019, 04:25:55 PM »
Bought a mint condition 1981 CB650C that has been in storage since 1986 with 2900 miles. Everything is ready to go including new rubber except I removed chain to detail clean everything and now can't find master link that will fit original O ring chain. Chain is like new also and I hate to toss. Any insight on a new clip type link. if not clip type, I have access to chain tool.

What 754 said: Read brand name and size of chain on link. Then google the band +'master link'. That's how I did it.

But keep in mind pin size and width will vary between brands..

Ok, So I found an acceptable master link.
I am not happy with the sound coming from the chain so have decided just to go for a new one. Sprockets look good.
Any suggestions on chain type/brand?
Tim

I have an RK chain which I like. But I think my wife's EK chain is better. Those are the only ones I have experience with. Lots of people here like DID chains too.

Thank you for the response on the chain. On my test ride, was not too happy with the RPM's being high at 55 mph. Not needed performance, would prefer to drop rpm's in 5th gear. Anyone try changing out sprockets to change cruising rpm's?
