Anyone Own/Ride/Have Thoughts about a Pacific Coast 800?
« on: August 11, 2019, 05:30:18 PM »
My curiosity will be the death of me. There is a guy not far from me, selling a PC800 he brought home from the USA a few years ago. Probably has 35K miles on it, runs like a HONDA, newer tires, mechanically perfect, and not a mark on it. I mean it is SPOTLESS. I like weird machines and he’s not getting any takers...... I could probably get it for US$15-1700. Picture is the actual bike. Anyone have any positive or negative comments to make? Get me out of this spiral? Thanks.

I haven’t heard anything negative other than the resale and some folks don’t like the styling. Personally they are an interesting machine.

The problem is the people that own them just won’t shut up about them! It has me weirdly interested! The newest bike I have is my CB750K8, so this would be a big step!

PM MoMo, Larry, had one for a few years before he got rid of it. They are a boring ride and to do much of Any maintenance you have a lot of plastic to remove.

As a cheap ride it might be a entertaining diversion if you keep the mileage low.

I rode Larry's bike about 30 miles. I even washed and waxed it after a mile or two on gravel. It was competent and a model not seen around here. Not inspiring but a solid design. The "Tupperware bike"

It is basically a Shadow 800 with a crap load of plastic. If I have to deal with that much plastic it is going to be wrapped around some performance. Personally I think it looks like a giant scooter.

My friend toured one for a number of years and it was absolutely perfect for him. The problem was that, as the plastic aged, the fasteners and clips became brittle and would no longer latch into place.
