Points felt - replacement part?
« on: May 17, 2019, 02:03:24 PM »
I've got a K5 that needs a new felt bit to lube the points cam. Honda part (30205-300-154 or 30205-003-005) is no longer available. What can I use there?
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

Maybe find an old used plate with other problems from where you can take the felt device from?

I saved some point plates in the 80's since I replaced the entire plate with everything on when I saw sparks on points and it ran bad. Found 4 in an old box. One was a TEC plate I could reuse for my last build. I was not aware of TEC as better back then. Later knowledge from here explained why some were extra problematic to tune in.... the ones with a propeller logo...the very one that broke the bakelite on a point. The wires are always good to spare...

Fabric supply stores sell felt. Cut a piece that fits.
