Custom Wiring Harness
« on: May 27, 2019, 08:08:49 am »
Hey guys, Hope you're all having an awesome Memorial Day Weekend!

I need a little assistance with the 78 cb550k that I've been building. I'm finally at the point where I can start wiring my bike, I recently picked up a Rectifier/Regulator. There are 8 wires in total. The first bundle constists of three yellow lines (AC) mount to the stator, ground(Green) mounts to ground (Green on Stator), and a red wire. Which I am assuming mounts to white off the stator???

Second bundle consist of 3 wires: White, Black and Green. I have no idea where any of these mount If you guys could dop any info it would be appreciated.

Here's the wiring Diagram I have been using as a reference in building my own harness

Here's a link to the unit i purchased. For a better visual.

if using a stock harness to start from the B,G,W will connect into the spade connectors from the original regulator. try this diagram,  http://manuals.sohc4.net/cb500/service_manual/HSM500550_11.pdf

Is there any reason this can't be applied to a CB650 build?

Also is there a key for the diagram (sorry just new to this) - to explain what the H M G etc mean?

Well, the 650 uses a CDI ignition, so it’s a bit different where the “coils” are concerned. And, depending upon the ignition, you may need an additional component from MotoGadget to interface that to the mUnit.

H - Horn
G - Generator (also called a Stator on our bikes)
M - Starter motor (the electric thing that makes the bike fire up  ;) )

Ha! Thank you for the basics there - I was sitting here late at night trying to figure out the meanings of the letters and my mind just couldn't figure it out.
