I have no idea how much of the info on the sohc4 stuff will be applicable. So that is my main question.

This is the motor out of my first motorcycle. I intend to bring it back to life. It may end up in a totally different bike, and just the heart, stock. It may end up in a custom. It may end up in a chopped up hawk. I build and flip bikes for a living, but I have stayed away from motorwork, as it is not profitable for me, so my knowledge is limited at best.

Fortunately my buddy builds motors and owes me, and I have literally tons of complete sportbikes to take parts from if I wanted to go big bore or efi. I mostly restore sportbikes and commuter bikes these days. ground up. been doing this nonsense going on 20 years now, its how I support myself. So I can get #$%* done, but I know dick all about how to build a motor properly. I stay in my lane. lol

I am just looking to get more out of it, reliably, and chop every lb of unimportant weight off it. Currently debating transplanting into another nighthawk and modding, or using a 1000rr frame with a custom cradle. 07 or 08. have a few of both, and then putting the nighthawk swinger and front end on it. I can't wait to piss everyone off. Then chopping the tank down so it hugs the frame lines.

But that would cover up the sides, and change the aesthetic. Def gonna test fit to see if it goes in at all, or needs too much butchery to even bother. I don't care about the reasonability of any of it, it was my first bike, and it will be my last bike, and I will get it rolling how I like.

This is the Projects forum and if you'd like to document and share the build, please do! We like projects of all kinds.

Since it's a DOHC (I assume it's a Nighthawk,  with the NH750) , if you have technical questions you can use the Other Bikes section, or include them in the ongoing build thread.

Building threads always fun and interesting....unless it's your own thread and you need information that may or may not be available on this forum.  There are a few forums, maybe something that you are looking for if you google Honda nighthawk forum. there are one or two that are specific to the 700 750.  I am not saying that there isn't enough experience here to get you through it, I'm only saying that some folks eat ,drink and poop the model Honda that you have on a daily basis  on other sites and they may be able to offer more model specific insight to your project. I would be interested in your build  just to see the differences the single over head and double overhead cam engines.
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.
