Tank Badge Removal?
« on: October 07, 2007, 08:32:39 AM »
I want to take the tank badges off of my 1976 CB550K to clean and repaint them. I'm just not sure of the best way to remove them without damage. Can anyone enlighten me on the proper procedure? Thank you.

Bob,

Thank you. I searched but couldn't find the thread. It sounds like it shouldn't be too hard, I just didn't realize they pulled straight off. Thanks again.

The pins are molded in the emblem between the "H" and "O" and the "D" and "A". Gently work a butter knife (a screw driver is too wide) between the tank and badge on both sides of the pin. Work one end, then the other. When the emblem is off, be sure to remove the tiny tabs in the tank before they are lost.
