After years of collecting/ restoring early Honda cb’s, I have a few milk crates of less than perfect tail lights and turn signals. Not long ago, I found a great use for them all.
I have a small race car trailer. It has carried a bug eyed Sprite, Mini Cooper S, MG Midget, Formula Ford, or a Legend Car. It’s super small and low, built on an old truck drop beam axle. Great when loaded up, but empty, it spends half the trip up in the air. Continually replacing bulbs, the filaments can’t take the punishing ride.
Last summer, I took a pair of 1977 or 1978 Honda 750/550 complete tail lights/ brackets, and bolted them to the trailer fenders. The brackets are mounted through the stock rubbers. I used bolts with nylock nuts (and a few washers) and didn’t over tighten them. The stock lamp housings are rubber mounted to the brackets, and the sockets are all rubber encased..... guess’s what! Haven’t replaced a builb in almost 12 months. Added another pair to my “dump run trailer” today.
THANK YOU MR.HONDA!
