K0 candy blue green
« on: May 24, 2019, 04:11:24 PM »
I had a candy blue green NOS sidecover that was shot with a color gun and I'm happy with my paint job, if a little dark. That said, some of the bikes I see appear almost powder blue. Were there two F0 colors or is it just a paint variation with some not making it as green?  I realize photography doesn't reproduce the color online. I've also noticed it in person but don't like to poo poo someone's bike.
When I was 6 I painted my bicycle mountain blue so a teal color was always my favorite.
I read there are twice as many blue green bikes now as there were new. Not sure if that's true but now I've had red and blue green, I'm Jonesing for a gold one.  One is not enough. lol.
When I see the off color (to me) bikes, I've always been polite but think to myself, I'd be PO'ed if mine came out that color.

No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

The bikes were all the same color when new.
Repaints have resulted in a variety of colors.

Painting the same colour candy depends on various circumstances.
Two different painters with the same paint can still manage to pint two different colours of -for instance - candy bluegreen.
Original from the factory these colours had many slight differences as well.
It all depends on distance of the spraygun to the object, spray cone, layers etc.

The tank and other parts were panted in one go to avoid colour differences.

Even nowadays it depends on the colour if it can be reproduced or not.
Some colour s are easier like candy ruby red.
But even than is it possible to have colour differences.
Candy bluegreen uís very difficult. 1 gramm extra green can result in a different tone of candy bluegreen.

At that time, even new from the factory, one cb 750 in candy gold could be two tones darker than the next.

So no. Bikes were definately not the same colour when new.
But nobody noticed or cared aout it because the parts on the bike did not have a difference in colour.

I totally understand about the light/dark problem with candies. An extra coat can change the shade a lot.
