New guy from Alaska - CB350F
« on: June 01, 2019, 09:43:13 AM »
Hi folks,

I'm Jay from Anchorage, AK and I just added a dirt cheap '72 CB350F to my stable that is in need of some love . The plan is to clean it up a little cosmetically, get it running, and give it to the wife (or just steal it back from her). I'm sure I'll have lots of questions and be looking for some random odds and ends shortly. I plan on really going through the bike this weekend and getting a better idea of everything it might need and make a more detailed thread in the tech section. Looking forward to getting deep in this one and if anybody is passing through Alaska on a ride send me a message and I'll buy you a beer. 8)

Thanks,

Jay

Welcome to the forum.  We lived in Alaska for many years and about 35,000 of the miles on the old 750 were done there.  Your top photo makes me feel a little homesick.

Welcome from Lake Superior,

That 350 looks in very good condition from 10' away.

If you're swinging through southcentral AK anytime, drop me a line.

Great bikes, love the 350F, and it looks good. There are a few different exhaust options, including 400F 4-1. Second photo makes it look like someone had a rack on there at some point. And the bluish top of the tank means it's seen some sun -- the candy bacchus olive paint fades to blue as the top layer of paint fades.

Looks like you’re missing mufflers. Luckily those aren’t too hard to find for that bike

It's missing a couple of things but yeah mufflers included. I haven't seen just the mufflers for sale so I was probably going to do a 4 into 1 pipe.

We haven't been back since 1998, which is too long, but time flies.  I still want to ride the highway there when I get some time.

Sorry, I was making a joke ;) the stock mufflers/pipes for that bike are very hard to find unfortunately.

welcome from the complete opposite end of the world ( australia) , i spies me a yamaha turbo in one of them pics, i got to ride one many years ago and it scared the cr4p out of me....gassed it on the freeway, it hit the turbo boost, stood straight up and took an off ramp all of its own accord, when i took it back to its owner i was informed that  "yeah, it'll do that, its got a bent frame..."
i blame Terry

;D Yeah the 4 into 1 Delkavic full exhaust will do when it's time for that.

Yeah that's my favorite bike and I didn't think it would be. I bought it just to make it fast though they're ugly looking goofball spaceship looking things. But after I get it running (took surprisingly little), I loved how fast and comfortable it is and I ride it probably more than anything. It has an R6 fuel pump, bigger jets on 2 and 3, ignition mods, and at 21 psi it put down just shy of 100 whp at the rear tire. Love it.
