This is the best thing I have seen in this forum so far. Thanks for posting all those manuals. Everywhere I went to get a manual I needed to pay ridiculous amount of money... Got to love forums.

This claims to be one, but not knowing anything about them, can't vouch for it. Seems to be a series of image files that are manual pages.

for some reason your computer has been configured to see 'zip' files as a media file, if you download the file Windows Explorer should then be able to open it. http://www.wikihow.com/Open-a-.Zip-File-Without-Winzip

I have scanned a complete Haynes Honda CB 400 Four manual(allegdly 550F as well! I had cut all pages out any way and put them in clear plastic A4 size sleeves to stop greasy marks getting on them while I worked) .Anyhow I want to share with all.But do not know how to create PDF file. How do I make one?Can anyone  send me a PDF file? Are there any copyright issues? Regards Sam

Firstly, yes there are copyright issues.

Now that we've got that out of the way...

When you say that you have scanned the book, do you mean you scanned it onto another sheet (ie copied it) or scanned it onto your PC? If you use a modern printer/scanner, most come with a suite of software that allows you to scan pictures to jpeg files and documents to pdf files.

PDF stands for Portable Document Format. It is an Adobe system that compresses the file to quite small sizes by disallowing any editing etc. To edit a pdf file you need Adobe Acrobat software which is neither cheap nor very user friendly. Anyone can read a pdf file by downloading the free Acrobat Reader software from Adobe.

So, if you have scanned the book to a pdf file, it will be on your PC (probably in your "My Scans" folder - depends on your operating system)

Copyright is really a gray area.  I had a photo business so I have some familiarity but am not a lawyer. To the best of my knowledge a person cannot reproduce anything for profit, however some things can be reproduced for personal use only.  Sharing a manual would be a violation because you would be taking away from the authors market-that is if the manual is still available for sale.  Probably  all the manuals availabe for download are technically a copyright violation, but who cares ;D ;D...Larry

Try here http://www.honda4fun.com/ it is an Italian site but most manuals are English, just follow the Manuali link.
