cb350f master cylinder - replace or rebuild
« on: June 20, 2019, 04:35:52 AM »
Is it worth it to replace the MC vs just rebuilding the stock one if necessary?

My MC seems to be working fine but I don't have anything to compare it to. I'm preparing to do a front end rebuild with stainless lines, new caliper, and resurfaced rotor. I've seen the threads suggesting replacement with the new generic  chinese 11mm alternatives, and some pulled from other bikes (like CBR600, which I think is 13 or 14mm). Searching around it also appears that some ATVs have 11mm MCs, like the Honda TRX, which seem nice and are Nissin. Is there reason to rebuild a later model japanese MC like this vis-a-vis the stock MC?

FYI, I picked up a YFZ450 MC on ebay for chump change. It's 1/2, or 12.7mm. I'll report back when I get it mounted up.
