Lacing 750 front wheel.. offset ?
« on: June 09, 2019, 07:25:03 PM »
My son is putting an Akront fat rim on the front, lacing wax a bit of an ordeal. BUCHANANS supplied the spokes but they are too long..  Will have to grind them.
Anyway I have the hu  within about a 1/16 of an inch out, side of spokes  flange to straightedge acrosx the rim.
I should get it down to half that.. but..
I assume I am to center off spoke flanges.. NOT the disc mount surface.. is that correct.. ?

 I will get pics later  it's a 17 x 3.5.. with a shaved hub.. on a 75 GL fork.. should look cool.
Weird drilling on the rim, the center spokes cross over to the far side.. we had to tweak the holes a bit..

Not the drilling in first pic  two in a row on one side , then 2 on the next.  Strange   dont know what it came from.?
I think when my son ordered He gave them , the inside of rim hole measurement, between the dimples, this should detetmine, wether its drop center or not. The Buchnans guy thought it might be a Harley rim, but I doubt it. For one we reangled 3 rows of holes, and it looked like hole was angled different from one side to the other....to me it suggests a hub with one flange larger diameter than the other. HD are same diameter, both sides like our Hondas.
At any rate all spokes are about 1/8 or more past end of the nipple, so I say cut too long.

The Truing stand is a Dudley... it's 80 to 100 years old.
