CB400F Carb Sync Wrench
« on: June 18, 2019, 09:13:31 AM »
Looking for a carb sync wrench for my CB400F.  Common motor collective has one for a CB360 but I don't know if it has the same 8mm nut as the CB400F.   Any insights?

I know the CB400F has an 8mm nut.  What I don't know is whether the CB360 also has an 8mm nut so I can use the tool designed for that bike.  I cannot find any tools other than the one for the 360.

I don't understand why you need a special tool to sync those carbs. A simple 8mm wrench and a screwdriver (and a set of gauges ofcourse) do the job, and once done it won't need syncing again for a long time.

I spent a bit of time making my own with a spare 8mm socket welded onto a length of tube with a handle so I could slide a screw driver through similar to a purchased one. My first time using it and TBH not sure if it made the job easier. As soon as there is any pressure on that linkage it effects the reading and you have to remove the tool to let it settle and check the vacuum. I feel just a normal wrench and screw driver would have worked just the same.

I have the tool and don’t use it. For me it doesn’t help any, just use the wrench and screwdriver.

I used to wrench on Hondas for a living in the 70's and believe me it is much easier with the carb sync wrench than using an 8mm and a screwdriver.  My carb sync wrenches were lost in a robbery way back when.  Anyway, I ordered on of these.
