Topic: New LED Signal Issue

Hello all, I recently went ahead and purchased some sleeker smaller front and rear turn signals. I already have leds in the old lenses and a relay so I know they work fine. My issue is the new leds have 3 wires, black, yellow and white. However the signal wires from the harness are only 3 wire. I am able to connect the black to neg on batt and yellow to positive on batt and light comes on and vice versa black to neg and white to positive but it's not as bright. I also was able to hook black up to orange and yellow to o/w and it lights up but I dont get any blinking. I found a random disconnected brown wire that when I connect the white to the blinker flashes. Any help is appreciated.

So it seems when I plug black into blue and I wired the yellow and white together and then plug them into the random brown wire the running lights work and the signal works. What is brown for as I can't seem to find it on the color wiring diagram? Does that mean that I don't have to use b/w?

If you connect black to ground and either white or yellow to orange (that’s the left signal) does it then blink? The signals you have probably have a running light option.

The old signals were only two wire? Probably because it used the body as a ground so essentially they were three wire too...just the ground “wire” was the body of the light.

So I found a green quad connector that has 2 greens plugged in on one side and nothing on the other side. I plugged black into one of the empty green slots and then yellow to blue and it worked like a charm. I also plugged white into b/w with the others connected and it had the running light function except not as bright as when the signal is on. Is the running light needed?

I think they did come with running lights but I thought that was the blue/white and orange/white respectively. In my diagram the brown/white is the back lighting for the tach and speedo.

Is it needed? More visibility is always a good thing.

One is for a running light and one is for the turn signal.

 I believe brown is used to feed the non existent (on USA bikes) park lamp switch.

75-76f have the brown wire also, but tail light can be turned on alone through ignition switch park position...
