Cb750K5 timing issue
« on: June 29, 2019, 02:52:36 PM »
New to the board and think I need some help. Recently acquired a 75 with 30K on it. PO claimed it was running before he took everything apart. I've had cyclex do a valve job and provided a new cylinder with 50 over piston. The PO also had Nixon redo the carbs. I've gone the pamco route with new coils and wires and caps. I'm just getting everything back together and she lights but is only running on 3&4. (Hot pipes). I had it running long enough to get a light on the timing mark and saw the 2/3 mark in the window. Trigger lead on #1 wire. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance
Kevin

Would suspect carb issues, pull plugs - are theyy sooty/wet?
In the UK anything over 40 years old only needs insurance and Fuel.

May have posted too soon. Pulled tank and looked at coil wires. I just put the caps on and routed according to the labels. It appears the labels are wrong the coil wires are numbered 1 from the left coil, 2 from the left, and 3 and 4 from the right coil. Basically in order that they leave the coil bank. I believe (and the orig coils confirm) that 1&4 come from one coil and 2&3 the other.

Normally the left coil (Blue wire) is 1-4 and the right (Yellow wire) coil is 2-3.
