Neutral problem
« on: July 01, 2019, 02:07:43 AM »
HI Im new to the forum. I have a 1977 CB750K, Had it for some 7 months.
I'm having a bit of trouble selecting neutral, it goes straight into the next gear ether going up or down the box and misses neutral.
It feels very stiff when trying to get it into neutral.
Can anyone help. :-\
Thanks.

Is your clutch cable slack set up properly?

Pretty common with these bikes and not to worry. Just gently tap it back down into neutral. The old clunky gearbox feels nothing like that of a modern bike. The odd thing is sometimes it will shift like butter and sometimes not depending on the oil temperature. Shifting into neutral while the bike is rolling to a stop will be effort free. Like others have said make sure the clutch is not dragging and has the correct free play.
