Cb750k oil cooler mounting - SOLVED, SORT OF?
« on: July 01, 2019, 06:18:05 PM »
Picked up a nice original Lockhart oil cooler kit with all the fittings and sandwich plate. However, the mounting is leaving me a bit perplexed. The horizontal bar below the horn mounts is the obvious point, but the exhaust headers would block one of the oil lines. Going higher and mounting to the Y section coming from the neck creates multiple mounting issues with cables and wiring. Almost tempted to line it up on the Y and just drill and tap the frame and bolt it directly. Any suggestions or examples would be great, thanks in advance!

Dolomite....... for mounting coils, accessories and oil coolers, i’ve had good success using stainless hose mounting clamps. Any good hydraulics shop has a huge selection. If you measure the OD of your frame tubing and find the right clamp (the best ones have a rubber cushion on the inside), you can mount a bolt/nut through the tab hole on the clamp. Makes a supper neat installation, with no modifications.......

Ended up going a unusual route, got a set of roll cage/ light bar mounts. I will be plumbing it tomorrow, I think the larger mounts provided a good offset away from the exhaust.
