Hi all
« on: January 29, 2007, 12:38:12 PM »
New here. I have a '76 CB550F, 12k miles, that I got for $200 + $75 delivery. I don't have a truck... Anyway, have had her since last Saturday and stripped her down and geeting her ready to run. I am in college and didn't really need another project, but oh well "I am young" lol, plus I just quit smoking. Makin her a cafe and going to sculpt, mold and lay my own "dunstall" style fiberglass seats. Had my fling with a 69 TR6 w/ bonnie head chopper, and now going the far east route. Well here are some pics.

They look like twins w/ the crash and sissy bars. Mine had the usual rust on the pipes, but the fenders and shocks shined up pretty well. THe carb floats are corroded bad and someone had put the jets in w/ jb weld they got so bad. I posted this on the tech forum. It seema like a lot of these carbs did this. Sad. The tank was in good shape except for a seam leak. As soon as the carb problem is settled I will try to start her. will change the oil and filter sometime this week.  She has good compression. I am retro fitting a 77 xs750 tank on her for the "leg notch" look. Rebuilding the frt brake now too. Anyway, TTYL

welcome guzzidude!
keep up the non smoking crusade... i haven't had one since a few days before new years.
my aunt had a heart attack on christmas day from a life of smoking ... it was reassurance that it was time for me to stop.

Thanks for all the welcomes and the non-smoking thumbs-up heffay! Anyway, rebuilt the master cylinder, moved the tanks upports and now it under primer. Still waiting on the Carb situation,,, my plugs, battery, and bleed valve(Honda order). otta see if she'll run before I do anything else. lol. Also it's been so damn cold I can't wash the thing to get started on the frame. Oh well. Getting ready to make the dunstall seat, sculpt it outta clay, then make a silicone/fiberglass mold. The total length on it is 23". Just trying to keep my mind offa the smokes. It'll be hard come summer due to me being outside as much as possible. Ok, Later fellas and thnaks for the warm welcome... It's so cold ya know!

Do you mean brake bleeders?  A lot of us are using Speedbleeders because they make bleeding simplicity itself.  We've compiled a compatibility list in the FAQ: Speed Bleeder Reference.  If you do a search here, you'll get a ton of testimonials.
