k2 750, just bought one, but need lots of advise!!!
« on: July 04, 2019, 01:02:03 PM »
 8)Hi guys, just joined you club/ forum after buying a 750 k2, looks great but rides like a bucking sea sick goat, so any advise would be much appreciated;
1. at around 40 mph, the front of the bike is bobbing up and down, very uncomfortable at the least.
2. when cold, bike ticks over great , after it is warmed up the revs start picking up to 15-1800 rpm, when ridden and hot , it is ticking over at 3-3500 rpm, #$%* to ride, like changing gear at 3,500 rpm, you can push the throttle forward a little and the revs will drop to 2,500, but the brain finds that a bit difficult around a bend and braking for some prat that,s looking for his cat,
3. first thing i did was give it a service, new filters, oil, plugs, brake fluid, and put a clutch in, after 20 miles engine starts missing, running on 3 cylinders, then come back to 4 and intermittent, hence, thought i would join a club and from like minded people ask about may be common problems, all your help would be appreciated, i have a passion for these bikes and would like to take this one to the grave!

There is a large knurled screw on the carbs with which you can set the idle revs, set it when hot.
Can you prop the bike up so the front wheel is of the ground? That way you can check if A. the tyre is on the rim the whole wheel round and B. if the wheel is balanced.

Bent rim, old tires or need balanceing.

Check point gap and timing, advance can stick, check it opens and retards easily.

Check valves, check compression, report back.

In addition to what folks above mentioned I would make sure your tires are not cracked/very old, brakes are in good working order and wheel bearings/steering bearings are in good shape.
