Looks like a glue in set up. Height and alignment would be the challenge. I would think it might be hard to cut  the old piece out very accurately.

 I fixed one with a bullet casing once. There is a kit that comes with it, the ad says the part is useless without the kit.
 Cut it smooth, center punch, drill a press fit in a drill press, push it in.
