Need a couple 350F measurements, please!
« on: January 29, 2007, 02:41:28 PM »
Hey all my fellow 350F owners,
I am having a problem with my side stand making the bike too vertical when parked.
I always have to use the center stand, or it would tip over. :(
There are 2 measurements i need to aid in diagnosing my problem.
1. What is the lenght of your side stand.  say measured along the straight part  near frame down to where it bends for the foot.
2.  For those with stock shocks/stock length shocks-What is the uncompressed length of your shocks? eye to eye lenght?
Thanks very much.
 :)

Sidestand= 8 inches from ground (bend) to center of bolt

Shocks= 12.5 inches from bolt to bolt

Thank you! and does your bike lean safely over the side stand when parked?
or is it nearly vertical and dangerously unbalanced?

It certainly doesn't lean WAY over.  I have found some parking situations where I've changed my mind about my angle to the curb, but on flat surfaces (like, a grocery store parking lot) I've never worried about it falling over.  Do you turn your bars toward the left when you park?  Is there something obstructing the stand, so it's not going all the way down/out?  Maybe it's bent? ??? ???

Hi there,

Sorry can't do you measurements as my bike is 120 miles away but it looks like you're sorted in that aspect anyway. ;D

My bike never feels like it'll fall over when on the side stand. Just as well really as there's no way in hell I could get it on the centre stand!! It stays ok in most situations and like Derek said if you turn the bars to the left it leans a bit more and feels more secure.

Perhaps it's got the stand from another bike. The measurements should help there.

Hey loonymoon, Congrats on your cup win!!! ;D
Your "tarted up" 350F looks right on!
maybe mine will get the same treatment before winter is through here in philadelphia.

Anyways, thanks for the thought and post, and if it makes you feel any better,
my 350F is REALLY tough to get on the center stand, especially ocmpared to my brother's 550F (which weighs quite a bit more,)
his 550 just flips right up... while i need to wrestle my 350F quite a bit.
i though if i put stock length shocks on, it would make it lean more safely on the side stand,  and easier to rock onto the center stand.

To answer two previous questions, i am turning the bars to full stop left, and while it does help some,
it is still pretty tippy unless i put the side stand down on an incline, so the bike leans over it more. :-[

BYW loonymoon, i tried to join your 350F enthusiast's page many moons ago, but had no luck.  would like to post some pics, etc.  how do i go about that?
Thanks!

Aww thanks for the compliments!

Yes the 350 is a pig to get on the centre stand isn't it! ??? I think it's to do with the position of the stand and the length of the lever. Even my dad has trouble. I could get a friends 400/4 on the centre and I can even get dad's Triumph Sprint ST on so I don't think it's directly to do with the weight of the thing!!

Sorry you couldn't get on my gallery - I must admit my administration has been pretty bad!! I don't check the email very often.I looked at the site the other day only to find that some @L{@ (expletive) person had put links to obscene websites in the comments on all the photos. I quickly removed them and disallowed guests access to comments.
