The Yamiya stuff is gorgeous and top notch. But, beware the snowball effect.

When the tank and covers look that good, then you need new badges. Then the chrome isn't up to snuff. Then the wheels. Then the seat cover. Then it deserves a super nice exhaust.
And on and on and on.... ask me how I know.

Funny story.

I was talking to my wife about this and I said "I already have a gas tank. I really like the silver one but I guess I really dont need it."

She said: "How many pairs of shoes do I have? There's nothing wrong with having another tank. Get it. I wont bother you about the money youre spending on it"

So there you have it. Im ordering the silver set.

 Seen these?

And my bike has new badges, a nicer chrome gas cap from the For Sale section here, Toyota silver paint, painted on stripes. All for around $500.

Yeah. Me and the FB stuff guy I have emailed, but I think you may have missed the story about my Mrs. Shes fine with me spending extra on the Yamiya.

Where is a good place to get a petcock, with all the hardware (screws, gasket etc), Honda tank emblems and side cover badges?

I bought a repro tank and side covers and had them painted silver. Came to $850-ish and another $200 or so for gas cap, petcock, badges, trim etc.

The Yamiya tank I bought was very good quality however, in my case anyway, I had a problem with fitting the fuel petcock.  My bike is a '76 where the petcock is on the left side.  All Yamiya tanks have the mount on the right.

I bought a repro, also with the petcock on the right side, for my '76 and it fit fine. Mine came from 4-into-1.

But you bought the decals and they put them on?

Yes, I bought the decals off eBay and they came with instructions for the exact positioning of the stripes. The painter put them on and clear-coated.

I think Im going to buy a repro tank and have them paint it silver with HEAVY candy metalflake!

The silver looks great and is unique...do it!  Dont cheap out on the petcock, the aftermarket ones are crap.

One thing I have whitnessed several times is when stopped at a place with other bikes,  people that admire my CB750 and remember the old days.

Yamiya tank and side covers are fantastic. New tank with NO rust.
You need more parts to complete though. Tank trim cheaper on eBay. Honda badges with clips, fuel cap complete, side cover CB750 Four badges, diamonds. Honda cost not much more and are worth the extra, they look better too with the HM logo.
Use old stuff on new set is not that good looking.
K2 Honda badges only available for one side. You must bend the other correct to fit tank.

The old set can be reused on another bike as is. Repair old side cover from the other side.

Did they send you any notification other than the standard auto response email, when you placed your order? Im trying to get an idea of how soon they ship after ordering.

Oh, I forgot, the Yamiya side covers are pretty strong and flexible, much better than stock.

Unreal.

Yamiya only shipped out the tank and side covers yesterday (they are 13 hours ahead) despite the fact I paid 3 days earlier. Seems there was a series of holidays in Japan and the office was closed. So they shipped them 2 day and by all accounts from UPS tracking, the tank and whatnot are meant to arrive tomorrow!!!

Previous owner paint looks ok.  All reports say Yamiya body sets are fantastic.  Silver was Japanese market only color scheme, so might want to consider some other colors for extra originality points.  Gotta do what ya want though, right?

So my tank and side covers arrive from YAMIYA in Japan, tomorrow. I ordered for the tank:

New Fuel/Gas tank cap and lock

Petcock

Petcock Screen

Petcock Screws.

Do I even need the petcock screen (the gold bit in the photo below) or the gasket in the top left hand corner? Or are those only used when REBUILDING a petcock?

What am I missing to get this tank fully functional and fuel-flowing?

And is there a bracket that bolts the petcock to the tank, or is the space for the two screws INSIDE the petcock, requiring me to unscrew the bottom of the petcock? O will the new tank come with some sort of petcock bracket?

Unscrew the sediment bowl. Then you can attach the petcock to the threaded holes in the tank with two screws.
The gold screen is a sediment screen and tank filters. Anything small enough to get past that screen is too small to clog up the jets in your carbs. So, yes, you need the screen.
The round grommet with four holes goes behind the petcock lever and is how OFF, RESERVE, ON is selected.
All of the parts should be included with the new petcock.

If it's like other petcocks I've seen, the screen and gasket are already installed and the petcock goes on with a couple of bolts.
Do you need fuel hose?
