Previous owner paint looks ok.  All reports say Yamiya body sets are fantastic.  Silver was Japanese market only color scheme, so might want to consider some other colors for extra originality points.  Gotta do what ya want though, right?

Yamiya tank and side covers are fantastic. New tank with NO rust.
You need more parts to complete though. Tank trim cheaper on eBay. Honda badges with clips, fuel cap complete, side cover CB750 Four badges, diamonds. Honda cost not much more and are worth the extra, they look better too with the HM logo.
Use old stuff on new set is not that good looking.
K2 Honda badges only available for one side. You must bend the other correct to fit tank.

The old set can be reused on another bike as is. Repair old side cover from the other side.

The Yamiya tank I bought was very good quality however, in my case anyway, I had a problem with fitting the fuel petcock.  My bike is a '76 where the petcock is on the left side.  All Yamiya tanks have the mount on the right.  I found that no matter how I positioned the carb rubbers, the petcock interfered with the carb set up.  This was because the mounting for the petcock needed to be outboard ~4mm.  My solution was to machine an adapter plate to move the petcock outboard 4 mm.

I do not know if the above problem was because of differences in the early 750's vs later ones or the tank had a 1-off defect in mounting hole location for the petcock.  The only downside to my set up is I do not have reserve function for fuel.  Otherwise I am pleased with the Yamiya tank.

Are you in the States? How long did it take for the set to get to you where you are?

My K6 has Yamiya tank. No problems with carbs that are not stock, Mikuni TMR.
My old stock K6 carbs sit on my brown K2 that has an old K2 tank. No problems. Sure your tank sit correct into the rubber pucks?
I have moved the idle screw from right side to left. There are threaded holes for both sides.

Yamiya stuff is good, my candy blue/green came perfect. I’m on Maui and it came very quickly, excellent packaging. You also need the jewels for the side covers and take note of orientation, I’ve seen a few put on backwards.

I made several orders while I was restoring the K3. They all seemed to arrive quickly, I’m thinking less than 2 weeks. Their packaging is top notch. Customer service is great too.

Yamiya orders arrives within a week, customs included to Sweden.
It can take some days more I blame the Customs only when working slow doing all they can to drain my wallet for extra taxes.

Good eye, the chrome strip is not on the bike.
I've gone back and forth on this. Sometimes I like the simple and clean look of no strip, other days I think I should put them on to stay a bit closer to stock. The bike is a K3 that was built with a K2 head (according to Hondaman) that I put together with K0 appearance cues because I wanted it like my K0 from when I was in my 20's.
Thank you

Thanks. The guys over at Yamiya wrote me back and said I can have the Tank and Side covers in 7 days.

im still debating.

On their instagram they have a pic of a 750 with that setup. Not sure if I like it more than mine. Below are pics of mine and the silver one on the Yamiya instagram account.

Like changing clothes.

Yamiya stuff is nice but expen$ive. For much less money, you can find a non-cracked side cover and have it matched or even repaint your entire set.

Scott.

Ive decided to do what youve said. Buying a left and right cover and having them repainted instead of spending all that $ on Yamiya.

The Yamiya stuff is gorgeous and top notch. But, beware the snowball effect.

When the tank and covers look that good, then you need new badges. Then the chrome isn't up to snuff. Then the wheels. Then the seat cover. Then it deserves a super nice exhaust.
And on and on and on.... ask me how I know.

This was my thought process as I debated earlier today. With a spiffy new tank and side cover set, how likely would i be to want to buy new spoke rims, and whatever else to make the bike pop out a bit more.

My only worry is paint matching and the cost of painting the tank again. I may buy a new tank from 4 into 1 for like $350 and have that repainted, and most certainly the badges in the same color as what I have.

Im really mad at the Honda team of that era, because those sidecovers are as flimsy as lady pantyhose.
