Gotta love Amazon!

I got a E-Clip tool and an assortment of e- clips i'll never use, haha. Got the clip I needed to attach the gas cap and put it on. Now im wondering if I should have a black gas cap instead of chrome?

 No! Chrome all the way!

I still say that bike deserves a different exhaust now.... to match the new bodywork.  And some Super Bike bars.

OK, chrome cap stays,  but Im not changing the exhaust (I like the long pipes) and the handlebars are extremely comfortable, so not changing those. I think Im good now. I want to keep this bike close to original. Only things that arent are the exhaust and color.  Oh and I have Hagon shocks on. You'll be able to see those when i take new pics after I put the tank and badge on.

Chrome cap
4 into 4 Yamiya pipes, it will also run better and be easier to tune. I got the "no number" pipes, great sound.

Wait, I was advised the chrome strips missing from my tank is a no-no, which I may fix. And we are worried about a chrome cap?
These bikes look great with the stock bling.

I dont want the Yamiya 4-4 pipes. To me, it looks like clutter and weighs too much. I like the streamlined look of the pipes I have on the bike right now. This was taken 2 days after I got it. I love how sleek the exhaust makes it look.

Nope. I hate the stock pipes. They look clunky. Thanks for the compliment on the body work though.

I replaced the petcock screws with allen head versions of same size.
Easier to tighten. My fiber washers were really tight, had to grind them a little with a 6mm drill to screw them on the screws.
Did that on 3 tanks, no leak when  petcock is off. All tanks have been sitting on a shelf with fuel in.

I went and bought these in the link below. The screws they sent with the petcock I bought off eBay are too short. Annoying:

Do the old bolts fit? Or are they still being used in the other tank?

Do you have a Lowe's or hardware store local to you?
Take the Allen head screws, match up the thread and pitch and buy a couple of longer ones. I can get small packs for under a dollar to no more than a couple of bucks.
Test fit the new bolts in the tank without the petcock to make sure the size and pitch is correct before you go.

Thanks for your suggestions!

The ones that came with the petcock are philips head, not allen. They are too short.

A poster here said he used allen heads, so I decided to see if Home Depot had those with the same pitch, etc. They did have them, but NOT stainless.

Unsure of what I was going to do, I bought the black NON stainless steel M6 1.0 X 40mm allen heads from Home Depot, but had a second thought: those will rust. I wont bother to put them in but i bought them just in case.

As a test, I screwed in the black non-stainless ones and they fit the tank perfectly, pitch and all. Since the stainless ones are identical, I ordered those.

On another note, another set of emblems came today. All I need now is the tank trim and Im set. Hopefully the bike will be done before week's end.

I'm sure you'll like the 4-4 pipes one day on that bike.
When you have seen some CB750's in good condition with the 4 pipes making it look mighty, the UK twin bike killer!

I did not like my K6 stock pipes many years ago. I changed my mind 35 years later as many others. ;)

Your bike looks great but im not a fan of 4 into 1 on cb750's The most i would do is 2 into 2. i have delkevic 4 into 1 on my kawasaki. For some reason the pipes keep getting purple flecks. Really annoying.

Today is the day!

All the misc parts (allen head screws for the petcock, tank trim) arrive in the mail today.

Btw if anyone wants brand new tank trim, just pay shipping and you can have it. I got two orders by mistake. I have no use for the second set.

With all the parts/trim in today, Im ready to go. Yamiya says to rinse the tank out before filling it with fuel.

My plan is:

Rinse the tank out BEFORE I put in the new petcock

Then put drygas in the tank to absorb any left over water

and then fill with fuel.

Sound good?

I'd slosh a little gas around and then dump it out.
How clean does it look? They're probably just covering their butt and it's good to go as-is.

My Yamiya tank had a thin layer of oil inside as rust protection. I filled it with fuel and started the engine!
Do not fill any water in that clean and not yet rusty tank!!!
