Mines an old cop bike so the controls have all sorts of extras like lights and sirens and mike, I had to disasemble the left hand control just to take it to the wreckers so he could get me the correct clutch lever, of course nothing wanted to go back in where it all came from.
Its like some kind of devil spawn jack-in-a-box when springs fly freely across the shed.
The right hand control has even more complex switches and even though I tempted to crack it open so I can figure out the wiring for the lights and sirens I've decided to just track them through the birds nest of wires inside the headlight.
I'm sure half of them are just loops put there to confuse us! ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Sooooooooooo new controls arrived today.

The right side has just one hole for the throttle! I need push and a pull holes?

Looks like I could just skip the push side.

P.S. Should these speedos work on a Honda 750?

from what i've been told by Doug_Id those gauges work and are accurate up to certain speed, then they start bouncing a little. doug said it wasn't that big of a deal, but if you want top shelf look elsewhere.

don't know what to tell you about the cables

edit: he also said that if given a time machine he would by them again (i've come  prefer the really huge stock gauges myself)

Will these spedos work on a Honda 750?

"No, they are made for the XS650 Yamaha only."

Are you looking for a pair of mini guages derek? why not try cycle X? they have a mini tach and speedo combo that would work on your bike.

So what do you think of the controls Derek? I see you mentioned the lack of push cable. I haven't ran one for years. If you think that return spring might break, maybe you should have a push cable but I think that spring is more than plenty to do the job and it wouldn't be hard to pack an extra. I also bought a master cyl. from Mike's .....had to go thru some sh!t to get a throttle cable made up because of cable mounting in new Yami control. You will dig it when its all hooked up & working.....I think it will blend in good with all of the rest of chrome!!! Keep up the progress reports.

I was ordering some connectors for the controls.

They should work out fine........ wiring....... "color blind" :o
I agree, one throttle cable should suffice. It won't be far from home to often ;D

Breeze
Did you match up the connectors with another female or did you just cut them?  I ordered one of the connectors today, but they were out of stock on the other one I needed.  Any one have an online supply for metric electrical multi prong flat and round connectors?

I used bullit connectors on most of the wires but did end up using a couple of flat spade connectors. As long as it is a tight connection,I'm happy.Let me know how your wiring thru the handle bars goes....I recall the left side (with the most wires) was kind of a pain.

Yamaha uses a different ratio for the gauges than most other jap bikes. So, that explains the problem.

Thanks for the ideas for gauges and connectors .
I will go back to cycle X for the speedo. I want a mini chrome in KPH not MPH, I'll have to go back in his site to look again.

Rear sets should be here in a few days ; ;D

Derek, Check out my new avitar.....thats my new head setup.I will try to post some better pics. I wanted to warn you.....when you put your triple trees together with new tapered bearings (I assume?)......Don't put all of your gauges, dash panel stuff on until you go out and ride it to seat the bearings. They "WILL" loosen up. Its easier to snug it up without all the goodies mounted. Your bike will rule!!!

OMG it's beautiful, I can't believe I missed this build. Not exactly my style if I was starting from scratch, but this thing is so freaking unique, well built, and awesome looking I have no choice but to like it!  8)

Any updates on the build?
