Hmmmnnn, well I am going to the aluminum store tomorrow, but you'd need to use F/F1 or K7/8 legs for it to fit, you can't do shiit with K3-K6 legs.................. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Are you serious? K3 forks can't have a fork brace?  sounds a bit odd..........

I would still like one for my K8 ;D

The later sliders were a good inch or so longer than the older forks mate, to give a brace something to clamp on to. You should put your K8 forks on your Tracy bike Derek, it looks like it should be fast enough to warrant a brace! ;D

I  got a fork brace on my 73 front end..

drag race style... easy to make  but might be tough with stock fender.

2 Y shaped pieces of 1/4 bloody alloy (as the Kiwi puts it). drilled same as your top caliper mount, then above the tire and mudscreen..5/16 holes near tips of the Y. Then when these are mounted, measure between. Then on the lathe I make a 1" bar thast fits between , drill a tap the ends. Then I leave the bars full width on the ends and  reduve middle to about 5/8.

Works great and way easier to load the bike , just pul on the  bar!!

Like you say mate, I dunno if Derek'd be able to mount a fender with that brace, a friend of mine made one like it for a K2 using a chainsaw bar for the "uprights", and welded in a piece of steel tube for the "top", then heated the whole thing up in a furnace and "quenched" it to harden it, it worked well enough, but it sure was ugly, and he had to mount the fender to it, as he couldn't use the OEM fender brace with that set-up.

The first thing the new owner did was piff it in the bin, as he was a "form over function" kinda guy. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I'm leaning towards a slim fiberglass fender when I get that far along, not stock.

I'm not the "Grab an old hunk of aluminum and make a corckscrew kind of guy either"  ;D

Derek,

Is the left fork leg AND caliper from a 75/76F (aka 77/78K I believe) ? The metal brake tube going into the caliper appears to be positioned like my 75 F directly behind the bleeder rather than beside it. If so, will this create any issues if you replace that fork leg with an earlier K leg and use that caliper and arm?? May need to replace the right fork leg instead if that's the case. I sure gotta give you credit for some fine polishing by the way.

Doesn't the pivot arm pin have 2 orings in there that would cause it to be tight? Squirt it with some penetrant and tap it out.

The LEFT one is correct as far as what I started with. It has dual drilled rotors to be installed yet. It all fit in there before.
All I replaced (wrong) was the upper chrome tube on the right one.

Most of this bike was "just" held together, so I'm figuring it all out as I go along ???

I'm not going the K8 route, I will just get another upper tube ......anyone?

ah ha, it's the Tube and not the leg. Guess I misunderstood. Just let it stick out of the triple tree an extra inch.  ;)

I just went to Fiche site http://www.powersportspro.com/pages/parts/viewbrands/home.aspx

and it would seem my front brake caliper set up on this bike is from a 78? sure looks like my 78K set up.

That shouldn't be an issue as long as it bolts up to the fork leg and is aligned properly.

I guess I need to have a look at the K8 in the Spring :o  No wonder it gets weird when I am turning right :o

Looking at chains and sprockets over at cycle exchange today.

Description of chain I like...........530 SEALED CHAINS (0-Ring) AVAILABLE AND IT'S NICKEL CHROME PLATED!!! Comes in 530 only and is available in 120 links.
Will this work OK?
I assume it can be shortened?

Sprockets:
Should I be looking at 17 front - 48 rear?  18-48?
This will not be a hwy cruising bike ;D
