Here's the cap I'm talking about. Sorry it's a bit dusty in the pics.

Honda part number 17620-402-010. Used on a number of small displacement XL and SL bikes.

Bought it as a replacement for the cap in my aforementioned tank, fits nicely. One of these should work for you based on the dimensions you posted earlier.

It does sit a bit higher than the original cap so that should help with your paint damage issue.

The cap with the flatter top in the pictures is the old one.

I feel your pain, I have wanted to do a polished aluminum tank for a while but it'll be a long time before I can drop the coin down on that one.

Finally got around to seeing the pic of your build with the wheels on. I dunno, I think the Tracy body is too cool "not" to keep it on the bike....that's my opinion. Looks incredible, nice work. Theres plenty of chrome and other "bling" to go around. I seen you posted a pic of my chopper, it's such a crappy shot I'd like to post a better one but haven't figured out how to post pics here yet. The wide tire swingarm may be of some interest to the guys thinking about running a fat rear, if anything.

Received an email tonight from "Benjie" after an inquiry on his tanks.

"I've been keeping an eye on your build at SOHC-4. SWEEEEET bike mahn. I agree with everybody in there that bike looks nice. I've never been a big fan of the tracy body kit, but mahn you made it look good on that bike. It made it even look good with the lester wheels. If i were you, I wouldn't change a thing on it."

So............. Onward and upward I suppose

Wahts your plan with the fairing? Are you going to use the one pictured? If so have you considered a bikini fairing from a Ducati, Buell, or the Triumph Truxton? The bike looks awesome but that fairing is so out of place against all the other work that bike is wearing.

Totally agree, that front fairing looks silly.

*I'm sure he would sell it to you if you really wanted, but it's cool he supports your current build at the cost of lining his pockets with some cash.

Crap! Just got back from My Honda shop where they installed chain and tried to fire it up,.....1st time carbs were plugged in since I got them.

Major fuel leakage from in between the 2 right side carbs.

I guess I need to completely disassemble all 4 to get at some sort of O-ring that attaches them.........

Derek, I just sent you a PM reply also. I'd shoot that mechanic - he should have quickly diagnosed the problem as being the small o-rings that fit onto the "T" fitting that links 1 & 2 and 3 & 4. Those are soft joints to allow movement where the fuel feed lines come in - basic stuff. The ones in there are likely to be the originals.

Here is a diagram of how they work - part # 1, 8 pieces. Again, I promise these were not leaking when I had them on my 836 two years ago. I would never, never have shipped them. As I stated in my PM, if you are not able to find those o-rings locally at your Honda dealer, I'll buy them here and send.

I'm sorry you're having problems with my $hit. I might start sending my spares to the dump....

Those o-ring tend to shrink a little over time when the carbs are sitting dry.

The carbs om my cafe had been sitting for a couple of years and when I first opened the fueltap in 2006 I also had a big leak...
I was suspecting this might happen and had placed a lot of rags under the carbs to soak up any drops of fuel that might escape.

However, when I turned the tap off the leak stopped (of course..), and after reopening the tap a few times I could see the leakage was getting smaller and smaller.

After approx 15 minutes from the first opening the leak was completely stopped as the gas made the o-rings swell back to normal size.

No more leaks after that

Might be worth a shot before you tear the carbs apart

The mechanic did diagnose problem which is why I mentioned the o-ring in my post. I wasn't complaining about the carb purchase Gordon, just looking for options and solutions. I haven't done this before.

Found some new O-rings today and replaced the old ones. Did an off bike test and it looks good!

Bit of a learning curve today. I've re-jetted, cleaned etc., but never had to separate them. Now I know how. Thanks Rolly if you read this
